I did a search on Star Gazer and it seems like almost everyone likes it. My question is how many shapes do you learn to create with this effect.
I already know how to do a star and a star-in-star. Are there more to learn? Thanks...

The instructions only show 2, but after the first star, you can see a rocket ship if you look closely. You can also begin the effect by doing crazy man's handcuffs.

I do like this effect. I know this doesn't have much to do with your questions but joseph already took care of that.
There is a trick I use to have that went great with Star Gazer. It's a rubber band that becomes stiff. I had a magic case stolen from my car so I don't have it anymore (About $3,000 worth.... ) Does anyone know who that trick belongs to? Ron Jaxon |

After the first star and before the rocket ship I show a triangle inside of a triangle. By the way, I also use this after CMH, Traveling Cash, and Broken and Restored band. (Ammar's Clsssic Renditions 2). Makes a great finale for a rubber band sequence.

Just a little note on this. I sometimes just use the one rubber band and I can make all the shapes using just one (The star/s the rocket ship). IF anyone want's to know how to make the shapes with just one band let me know and I can try to type it out for you.
I also like to switch the star band for a normal one at the end. So they see the star band, I hand it to them and they it will no longer make the star shape. This adds a little mystery to the effect. I've tried to make a rubber band that is hardened in the start shape but I haven't been successful on that yet. Anyone got any ideas on how? It would have to be hard as if it where petrified, yet look and feel like it was once a soft rubber band. I think it would be a perfect ending. Ron Jaxon |

Maybe you mean the trick "I'm with the band" A fully stretched rubber band remains suspended in time! Held by just one end, the fully-stretched rubber band remains in that condition! On your command, the band snaps back and lands on the table in full view for anyone to examine! http://www.hanklee.net/cgi-bin/quikstore......arch=yes Can you give us a review of this? With Stargazer you can also make a triangle inside a triangle: Here's the clip: http://www.jbtv.co.uk/videos/stargazer_hires.avi Magic Chris |

Thanks Magic Chris. That's the one I'm looking for. I picked the one I had up at a magic convention. It was used so it didn't have any instructions.
My review of it: I like it. It's not very complex but it got great reactions. When done right it can really fall into the lines of shock magic. When I did it I made it stiff as I was making a comment. So my hand absentmindedly let go of that one end as I made a hand gesture. Then I act surprise as I notice that the rubber band is stiff. Then I snap my fingers and it becomes normal again. So if you're one who sees the strength of an effect rather then the working of the gimmick. I highly recommend it. For it's simple, but a fun trick. One quick note. You do need to be wearing a jacket or vest to do it. I hope that's not giving to much away but I'd want to know that. That doesn't matter to me though. I always wear one anyway. Hope that helps and thanks again Chris! Ron Jaxon |
