The real problem is in Hong Kong sharpies are only carried by magicians. Also the quantum bender has a really cheap knockoff that they all use. In Asia, there is not really much imagination going on in the magic community. Magicians get a teacher and they do what the teacher says, then they see an act and they say "where can I buy that?"
So, if Gary or anyone actually pulled out the quantum bender, and I'm sure it was a magic club meeting or lecture, the girl knew it was a prop because she has seen the knockoff. No matter what, if they expect trick, you are already dead in the water. If your routine becomes a "proving" session where the spectator is calling the shots, what is the point really? James

What actually happened was Gary when asked to perform it again to the lady who said she knew of the "pen" he used a completely different method to QB and CV.

That's what I said, that he used a slightly different method second time round. Read my post again Mr C, man of mystery and you'll see I provided an accurate report.
Cheers. Jamie

Sorry "Jamie" it was when you put coinvexed 1 qb 0 that threw me. But to be fair it wasn't a slightly different method, it was a totally different method.
Anyway, I think both the qb2 and cv2 are both excellent. |

Thanks for acting as Gary's spokesman to clear that one up. If anyone is wondering Gary performed a rather 'unique' presentation as a follow up to coinvexed.

Well you acted as his spokesman in bringing it up in the first place...
And as far as I know he doesn't know you.....that's if you are really called "Jamie Ferguson" hmmmmm. |

Jamie, you were the one who started to talk about CV giving it one up on the QB, so don't act like christopher got things off track. So do you personally know Gary and does he know you?

These QB vs CV arguments will go on forever.
Pick your poison and enjoy it. I really like my QB a lot. Liek John said if anyone ever were to ask to see the pen (which has happened once or twice to me) I just reach for it and hand it to them. Next. John has addressed (in past posts) changing the misdirection when performing again to the same crowd. Hand 'em a quarter - ask em to try to bend it... dirty work done. Next. Even is Asia or here - very very very few people have witnessed a coin bend in person - ever - much less knowing or hearing of a method. It's a big world out there. I worry not.

My point was that if Gary was in Hong Kong it was more than likely a magic function. People at magic functions have a bit more inside track than plain old folks. However, if you have never been to Asia ,how in the world could you comment that it is all the same?

So if it was at a magic convention, who cares if someone has seen a gimmick or tool before, I'd venture to say that 99% of them have. But performing in a non magician regular venue, on the streets or wherever, you'll rarely encounter someone who knows about QB or CV. This story is getting crazier and crazier lol

I don't want to get into the debate as to which coin bender is the better, this is a personal preference to each performer. I performed a coin bend to a family from Hong Kong with their signed coin, later the woman came up to me and said that she had seen a guy in HK do the coin bend and he used a pen to do it (he showed her), I made out that I didn't know what she was talking about ;-) She asked me if I could repeat it but without using a pen, so I did!!
Now I have no idea if the pen she was talking about was a QB or a C2, neither is relevant, the point is, whoever performed it for her also showed her his method, so by repeating it with either a QB or a C2 would have been pointless, this would have only confirmed what she had seen no matter how well you did it! The repeat method I used for her was using Coin Unique, this was probably the only time I've done coin bending when having the coin signed would have been pointless! Hope this clears everything up. I don't know Jamie Ferguson, Jamie obviously got this story from my Facebook page so he is either using a different name on FB, or is a friend of one of my FB friends, but saying that I do lecture all over the UK and I've worked the Blackpool convention and other conventions many times so we may have met somewhere? All the best, Gary Jones.

Thanks for taking the time to respond Gary. Now that you've explained what really happened, it all makes sense. Great job on having a different method, most people who have QB or CV don't have anything else in their arsenal to quickly and immediately perform a different coin bend at a moments notice, they'd be intimidated that she knew about a top of the line gimmick and would be able to suss out another method. A great lesson for everyone that does coin bending!

The coin unique version is a very clean method if you don't mind not having the coin signed, it's also a great lead-in to doing a signed version, or, it's the perfect 'out' if they know about the pen, as I discovered I now own both the QB and C2, love them both! Hello All,
I've received a crazy amount of email from people all over the world, inquiring about the possibility of a "Quantum Bender 3" being released. Well, I've decided to finally let the cat out of the bag, as I believe it will be easier than receiving and replying to all the emails one at a time with the same questions. So, the answer is yes, I'm excited to let you all know that there will be a QB3. I originally wanted to keep this news on the "down low", as I don't have a release date yet, and I don't want to disappoint anyone in the event of any possible delay. To date, there have been a few delays already, and the machine shop is currently behind on their shcedule. At this time, I'm not sure if there will be any additional delays, I hope not, but you never know. So because of these reasons, I originally planned on waiting to make any kind of announcement until they were closer to completion or even completely ready to go. However, I have now decided to let the word out early, as it's been hard to keep it under wraps because of all the underground buzz its creating already. Its generated so much interest and has raised questions, that I believe it may be easier for me to let everyone know now and like this. So without devulging too much information yet, I will describe just a few of the new improvements/features. I now believe that the QB3 is the absolute best model in the Quantum Bender series so far. It's still got all the high quality features, materials, and high standards as the QB is known for, but it's now got even more improvements than ever before. Your probably thinking "how can it get any better, as it was already so totally awesome?". Well, in addition to all the regular things that the QB is known for, the QB3 is even more universal and can bend a much larger range of coins. It now fits American and foreign coins that range in size from a US Dime, up through the size of a US Gold Dollar coin, and it fits all coins in between. Not only does it now bend larger coins but it also has a brand new feature, something that I'm calling the "quick touch key bend feature", allowing you to do just that, bend a key in the quickest possible way. So now you can bend both coins and keys, and even together in the same routine if you'd like. One of the lesser noticeable improvements but just as important, is a totally redesigned Pivoting Joint, making it even stronger than ever before. There will also be a brand new instructional video that will accompany it as well. The video will cover everything from effects and routines, revelations, phsycology ideas, handling tips, etc etc. This item will have an EXTREMELY LIMITED RELEASE, and it will only be available directly from me. On a side note, I will also be releasing a new item at the same time. It's called the "Energy Bender". This device blends in perfectly with the QB family of devices. It is used and disguised similarly to the QB. However it does NOT bend coins, but rather bends all kinds of other heavy duty metal items with ease. It bends that real thick silverware that you normally can't bend even over your knee with two hands. It can bend a really thick fork, spoon, or even a knife. It can also bend a tine of a thick fork with ease. It bends and twists keys too. It will also bend and twist other metal objects that will fit into the device. It too is very universal and is very easy to use. This would make a perfect ending to any standard metal bending routine because you can now finish with a bend or two on the thickest and most impossible items to bend. This item will also have an EXTREMELY LIMITED RELEASE. It currently doesn't have a release date as I'm currently waiting on the machine shop, and I would also like to release it at the same time. I hope this answers some of your questions as I know there has been allot of underground buzz already. I'd also like to say thanks again for all of your interest in my magical creations, and thanks again for all of your support. Magically, John

Good luck with the new releases - I don't use any devices personally "out in the field", and I am glad you are selling these personally too... hopefully it'll stop people with feeble imaginations releasing their "own version"...
