You can find the answer here:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/faq.php#bbcode Scroll down to "Adding Images". You have to have the photo on another server such as one that hosts your website. If it's on your computer and your computer is not a server then you have to use the "Attachment". It won't be embedded but a link to it will be in the message window. |

Jaz: have the photo in say "my documents" on your computer and you use the attachment function, the picture, not a link will appear in the post.

I didn't know that Dave.
I recalled only a link saying something like "Click here to see attached image" and a new page with the image popped up. My bad and my apologies. |

You might see that if someone posts an image that is too large for the Café. We'll edit the link and add "click here to see image".

Okay, so here's another question...
I'll be posting a number of photos in my column (in the Buffet section). The last time I tried this, the photos wouldn't load, and it turned out that the problem was w/ my Web site: I have one of those free sites that make you use a tilde ( ~ ) in the URL, and apparently Unix has a problem w/ tildes. So I'm looking to use Photobucket or something similar. Any suggestion, or pros or cons, on any of these free hosting services? Thanks much.

How big (MB) are your images?
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?

I don't know in terms of megs... probably half a meg each. They just have to be large enough that you can see a stage set in some detail. I'm guessing the size will be around 500 or 600 pix wide by maybe 400 high. Hope that helps.

When I try to add an image, I get a reply that it is too big.
How can I make the image smaller so it will fit? Thanks, this is something I really want to learn how to do. |

Justin,
I just went around about this in sending jpg and jpeg photos as attachments. My photos were almost 2 mewg in size. I discovered that my camera (Canon A530) has software (ZoomBrowzer EX) that alows you to scale down these pictures to only 75K-90K. And frankly, I cannot tell the difference in picture quality. I'm wondering if Windows XP has this feature as part of its OS and/or if there is a freeware software program that is easy to use and allows yo to do the same thing as the software that came with my camera. Any info on this, folks? Mike

I have a pretty large collection in "my pictures" folder but can't figure out how to resize?

Justin,
What operating system are you using. If you PM me, I will lead you through resizing your file and getting it to show up. Chris |
