Hi,
I would like to build a magical appearance for my show. Could any of you give me the references of books where I could find plans or at least indications to build good, convincing and not too complicated appearances? Thanks |

Mark Wilson's Book has some simple ones. For a bit more complicated building try Steinmeyer's Device and Illusion. Paul Osborne books are good too. And almost any magic store can get Paul Osborne individual illusion plans for you for around $25-30.
H&R Magic Books out of Texas is a good resource to find out of print books (They advertise in Magic Mag.) Talk to Rich. Try experimenting, as well. See what originalities you can come up with. -vk

Arabian Tent, Nested Boxes, Giant Cards (panels). Now out of foam board. There was a book called Grants' Victory Carton Illusions. I used giant fridge boxes, decorated for Christmas to produce Santa. Cheap and light to carry.

Gary Darwin's "Inexpensive Illusions" video and books are good.

Andrew Mayne has some excellent material out there, and his illusions are very inexpensive to build. Illusion Book and Solo X are both excellent. I also have Gary Darwin's book and that is another great way to go. I was fortunate to have Dondrake help me with my black art illusions, but lighting is crucial for that type of magic.

The modern cabinet is a good appearance, or even a flash appearance which can be found in paul osbornes plans I believe.

Hi everyone, I'm a magician that needs substance... I do childrens birthday parties.
I want to create magic that captures the audience with thier mouth hanging, so I thought If I do some small type stage magic in their living rooms I would create the type of magic seen on tv and bring to the young tyke an experience that they have never had before. Illusions they see on tv brought right in their own living room. How exciting would that be? I want to build the illusions in a living room scale. Paul Osborne has great illusions, I want to get some plans that would make for a living room setting. Where would I might find this kind of magic? Any idea's would be greatly apprieciated. Barry |
