Mentalism is often over priced… Why is that? Well, it is a niche of a niche, and those within that niche tend to like to keep things- shall we say- private! This is neither good nor bad. Occasionally, someone decides to share an idea that is simple, useful and powerful, and does so at a price that makes the “pro’s” squirm because it puts it into the hands of so many so affordably.
I am not sure which camp I am in where this manuscript is concerned but I AM certain that I think it is GREAT! What I mean by that is, I am thrilled Tony decided to start releasing his ideas to the community and in writing- as I think that is one of the best ways to protect the work as his own AND to allow the legacy to begin to grow- much the way we let children leave the nest to grow. On the other hand, as someone who likes to keep the real work a bit more exclusive, I wish this was $100, and I am not the only one who has said that they would have paid that gladly. In Tony Iacoviello’s Popular Selection E book, (Volume 1 of his Maximum Involvement series) takes a principle you may have seen hinted at here and there, and makes it something tangible and useable in the three variations included with this monograph, as well as providing food for future creativity. Tony introduces you to the theme behind his Maximum Involvement series (Basically mentalism that involves, one was or another, MORE of the audience. Normally we involve one or two and the rest “just” watch.) and sets the stage for the rest of this series which I am looking forward to as well. Tony explains the idea behind the Popular Selection force, and as usual, the REAL power is in the subtleties. Tony offers audience tested bits and pieces that make this in to a powerful concept. Without these bits, it could be a shallow ruse. With them, a valuable tool in the mentalists arsenal. Tony then offers three different full routines using this basic principle, as well as some art files to use with one of the effects. He offers additional uses for this principle. As you read it, your creative juices will no doubt kick in too, and I suspect, if you have a notebook of things “In the works” you will think of several ways to add these ideas and move those items from the drawing board to the stage. If you are looking for the newest, latest, clever flashy gimmick, of course this isn’t for you. Tony is a fair and pleasant guy to deal with, and offers personal attention and support, including sending these out manually with a little note. My review: Two Thumbs Up…. I’d give it more, but I only have 2. His Web site: http://www.mbtproductions.net/productions_files/page0004.htm

Tony deserves all of this, for he seems to me a warm human being and a great person.
And all of the ideas he shared with me (even the ones yet to publish) were good!
Then you'll rise right before my eyes, on wings that fill the sky, like a phoenix rising!

I would just like to personally thank Tony for not injuring any trees in the production of the manuscript.

Tony has taken an idea which has been touched on before and turbo charged it. Not only that but he makes it clear that this principle is adaptable to a vast range of themes which can make your performance extremely topical, and that translates into happy clients! The genesis of this method is time tested but, as others have said, Tony has breathed into it a new life far beyond anything I have seen done with it. Kudos, Tony!
