In the August edition of Genii, the cover story is an interview of Earl Nelson by Shaena Engle & Richard Kaufman.
I enjoyed the interview and I am interested in one specific statement of Nelson’s, in which he states that he is exploring the possibilities of conducting a "retreat over a weekend focusing on intense sleight-of-hand training for people who want to learn". I think that it would be a wonderful idea, and I would like to participate in such an event, if I was able to financially. What are your thoughts, and are there already such options? |

Kardma, (why not use your name?)
I just spent a day with Earl. He talked quite a bit about teaching, although he said he will be too busy with other things for quite a while to do it. I have a club just for that reason. I was sick of the bigger clubs and the lectures. Too many at the lectures and I never got what I wanted out of them. So I started my own club. Take a look: http://artofmagic.8k.com I have workshops by some of the best magicians in the world in my living room. David Regal will be here Sunday. You mentioned Shaena Engle. She just interviewed me for the November issue of MAGIC. There will be a two page article with four photos. My club is the only one of it’s kind that I know of. If you are ever near here let me know, you are welcome to come visit us. _________________ Thank you, John Zander *************************** The Award Winning Comedy Magic of John Zander http://www.ZanderMagic.com http://ArtofMagic.8k.com ***************************

I believe Earl had something like this (a weekend Magic retreat) back in the late 70's or early 80's--I seem to remember seeing ads about it in Genii.

Coming into this site, I automatically produced a false name as is done so often on the net. I now regret this, seeing that most simply use their real name. My name is Robin Parker.

Hello John Zander, WOW! what a super club and the site is great also. I wish we had something like your group here in Atlanta. Perhaps that is something that could be done here as well. I’d love to participate in one of your sessions sometimes but the truth be told, I rarely leave home. Calf. is far away from Dixie. Thanks for your message! Robin Parker, Atlanta
