I read about this version of the razor blade trick a LONG time ago in some old magazine, but didn't know how to contact the author or if it was even still out there.
It was a nice surprise to discover this on the Leaping Lizards Web site as a PDF. apparently they included it as part of another book by Ron Dayton, but are also offering it as a stand alone PDF. I was in a hurry so I ordered the E book. What a neat idea!! It is set-up intensive, and will take some finagling, but it was really clever AND there is only one set of blades. I admit, I wanted it as much to satisfy my curiosity as to how that was possible, but I will really use this method. One comment. Leaping Lizards protected their PDF's by watermarking my name and address UNDER the text.... It was easier to read when I printed it out. |

Wonderbott, the first review for the effect appeared in a 1988 L.R. review by George Johnston. I was selling it as a privately printed mss. for $18.50 at the time. I am so pleased to read that you enjoy, and intend to use the method.
PS; stick the blade corners in an apple and use it as a makeshift holder/ stand for them. THanks for spreading the word! Kotah |

I believe I read in a post that Larry Davidson mentioned your cig-thru-quarter. Sounds pretty fascinating! Any plans to make it available again or know where I could pick one up? Thanks!

Eric, my ultimate cigarette thru half had a run of 200 pieces. David Roth said it was the "Best of Both Worlds" Shown both sides before during and after. All internal mechanics. My Opium COins are available in half, and quarters. Two coins simultaneously penetrated by a cigarette then magically transform to Oriental coins with holes in their centers. SAsco carries these as well as my effect crackerjack Love. A nickle changes to a ladies finger ring with raised stone.

I think this is a very ingenious idea, but the time needed to set it up each time makes it not very practical. I can't imagine using it regularly.

I understand completely, it is a time intensive set up, in its original 1988 format; But times and materials have advanced. Stronger threads, even things like a post a note glue might be a better fit for the effect. / magneticing the blades
Just tossing out possible alternative approach, which cout time involved drastically. Make use of what you may and leave the rest behind. Kotah |
