Hi guys,
Is there a way to set my I pod up so I can play a song 1 then it stops till I press play which will trigger song 2. Basically I want to avoid having to keep pausing before the end of the song then skipping to the next one. Thanks |

Steve, folks usually build in a 'silent' track to accomplish this.
They place a 5 minute (or however the longest break between your music is in your act) track composed of silence between every actual tune in the act. All songs have to be put in the same playlist for this to work. So you wind up with song, silence, song, silence, song..........etc. In practice the iPod keeps on playing, but after each song it's playing a silent track. When you're ready to do your next number with music you simply hit the 'next track' button once and the iPod advances to the next tune. There were folks offering a link to the 'silent track' a couple of months ago, I'm sure a search would find it. You just import it into iTunes like any normal tune and build your playlist accordingly. There are also some hardware manufacturers offering add-on items to the iPod at a cost which will also add the kind of functionality that you're after. The down side is they cost money and it's another item to carry and set up. The silent track will do what you want to do, and advance with a single button push. |

WavePad is free software and you can easily make a slient track with that program.

Steve,
If I've read your question correctly, the silent track will only give you a larger buffer of more time before you need to pause. What it sounds like you are looking for is something to autocue the next track until you trigger it. If so, the only products I know of are Virtual Soundman and Wireless Wizzardy's remote products. Previously I used an iPod remote with pauses cued in my Playlist. Now I'm an iCue2 fan all the way. The value really comes down to how much music you use in your performance. With my increased confidence of cuing the right sound with my iCue2, I have added bunch of sound effects to my routine enhancing the presentation value. I hope that helps. Dan. |

Steve,
I have to agree with Dan. If you want professional sound, go with a professional product, something that's designed to do what you want and has been tested to do just that. I'm an iCue2 fan ALL THE WAY! 2-3 library shows a day last week, different towns/cities for each one, and it's so simple to transport and set up. Used to use a Wireless Wizardry "ShowTech", but that's way too much to set up for what I need. iCue2! Steve |
