To each his own.
But as a 19 year old student in magic, I see both sides here. Chris is right in the sense that age doesn't matter a single bit. I'm 19, and have been in magic for 3 years, and I can honestly say I'm the hardest working magicians I know. I think passion is a better measurement to judge by. Also, Scott has a beautiful point. Young guys like Josh Jay, Jason Latimer, and even me understand that magic takes effort and tons of work. I'm too busy working to develop my magic into it's prime to waste my time trying to make quick cash on hastily made notes or material. That's the key. That's why Josh is where he is. That's why Jason won at FISM and he's only 24. That's why I'll reach my dreams someday, because we understand that right now, we are the students, not the teacher. ||sean ||

I have not posted my review yet but age does mean something. I found some of what was written disturbing but knowing it was written by a kid puts it in context. If it was written by a 30 year old it would be scary. Everything is based on perspective in life. A 15 year old doesn't view the world the same way a 19 year old does and a 19 year old doesn't view it the same as a 25 year old. The simple fact is you won't be able to understand the trail until you've walked it.

Look, I'm not "age-discriminating" here. I am saying that NOBODY, whether they're 15 or 65, should be releasing material when they only have a few weeks or months of experience, or without at least making an attempt to do some research to see if a similar (or better) product or method already exists. It seems like teens tend toward this a bit more than 50-somethings, but I'm against it regardless of age, gender, race, religion, creed, color, ethnicity or national origin!
That's all.

Me too. If you see my review I ended it by refering to Persi and we all know he was a rare and amazing genius at a young age and continues to be one.

Just an example/thoughts, like, you know,
If someone takes hard copies books and put out as ebooks for downloading free, but maybe young of age, and apologise lightly in public on his mistakes. and less then a year he release some materials( either with or w/o crediting ), should we or not support that product? If we buy that particular product, are we encouraging piracy work? Afterall, that's what earn the 'reputation' in 1st place. If becomes sucessful, more will follow suit(teens below legal age), why not, afterall, it's only one person I need to damage and so many I can get to support, not to say reputable across the global done this way. What's stopping them then? They're underage afterall. May be that's why I say in another thread, pointless on topics regarding exposure or downloading, ebooks/dvd copying. Cause now that even makes a person gain fame/support faster and how it helps? Read around. Imagine what would be if that person is of legal age, in jail or paying fines now? Maybe we should never start anymore threads on exposure or dvd copying is that bad or damaging to industries since we can be supportive to (those that gain fame this way) 'new' in line product so fast. Just a thought we need to consider a while maybe, Cheers. |

Has anyone read the bio of Dan Army on Lybrary.com? It's worth a read (and a chuckle) before Chris catches on and deletes it. It really is the most pretentious promo I've ever seen.
http://www.lybrary.com/dan-army-m-229.ht......dffde8a4 One brief excerpt: >In a very symbolic way, he tries to find the real meaning within all of us. People waste away, not living our lives to the fullest. Dan reveals the true fears within us, and leaves us with something raw, pure, but yet so complex.< What does that even mean? |
