To friends and fellows,
Recently I experienced a profound moment in magic with Las Vegas magician, Paul Vigil. Paul is an old friend and I was honored to see his new work, "Diplopia".
EFFECT:
A participant's deck is borrowed and shuffled. The spectator and magician/mentalist each think of a card. THIS IS A COMPLETELY FREE CHOICE. The participant is asked to read the mentalist's mind, and to remove the card they believe he is thinking of. The mentalist does the same. With no questions asked, the performer finds the spectator's card, and they find his!!!
This routine is an absolute stunner. I witnessed it firsthand and was blown away. I then watched Paul perform it later to fry a room filled with extremely knowledgeable magicians and mentalists . . . THIS IS SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!
The handling is clean and direct, and Paul has carefully explained every nuance and subtletey in his work. Furthermore, it is within the grasp of anyone interested.
Having received the highest praises from Armando Lucero, Alain Nu, Luke Jermay, Bob Kohler, Aaron DeLong, Raj Madhok, Gazzo, Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger, Chris Kenner, Paul Harris and others . . . (the list goes on and on); this routine will prove extremely hard to beat.
For a completely gaffless, impromptu mind reading MIRACLE with cards, "Diplopia" is tops. I cannot recommend it enough. It hurts for me to tip the source, but is the least I can do for my peeps here at the Café.
For more information, contact Paul at www.paulvigil.com
I believe this will be made available in a PDF and/or printed manuscript.
You've been told . . .
Jerome.

DT3,
"Diplopia" ROCKS!!!
The DD is not his, but is absolutely brilliant nonetheless.
There is a thread for his new effect in the PDF section of the Café. Check it out!

Just bought Diplopia, solely on the recommendation of Jerome and the first-class reputation of Paul.
I am elated.
Card magic doesn't make me elated very often.
I am elated.
Ingenious.

I just picked it up as well, also based on Jerome's excitement. I'm very excited about this one.
I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but the last page just printed off, so I'm off to my chambers!
DT3
JF...isn't that nice how Diplopia has great reviews from people like Kenner, McBride, Weber and Harris, yet people are buying it because of YOUR recommendation? Does that mean you've hit the big time?

I am a close friend of Paul's. This was the first routine Paul ever performed for me. It is simple great. Direct and utterly fooling.
My comment on the effect really does not do justice to how much I love this. It is well worth whatever price is being asked for it and more.

This is very, very good!
I am familiar with the routine this was based on but the improvements Paul has made are excellent and well worth what he is asking for it.

Just finished re-reading the manuscript (PDF file, actually), and after some deep thinking, I have this to say: This is the best card effect I know (and my background is in cards). I think I'll now sell off a lot of my old card books. I won't be needing them now. "Diplopia" is my new "go to" effect.
Cheers,
Jason

Thanks for the heads up. I usually part away from the normal card tricks. The "Oh look your card is on top" tricks! This sounds like it takes the cake.

Hey Guys,
I wanted to chime in here.. Diplopia is what real magic would look like if someone actually had the power. It can't be labeled as a mind reading effect, although they will feel that way. It isn't a find the selected card effect, even though that will happen by both spectator and magician... it's a holy crap effect! One that can't be explained, especially since you borrow their deck.
You walk in with nothing and come out with people chanting your name.
This has been my go to effect for a long time to fool the pants off magi and laypeople alike. You gotta do this effect!
Diplopia is so worth your investment. I believe you can get it from Paul by sending $15 to his paypal address of PaulVigil@hotmail.com.
Cheers and Happy Magicking (if that's a word),

No, Mrs. C. is my choice on the D-list, the R-list would have been Mr. McC. (but it does not look like he will be there.
Although I tend to avoid most card effects, this does sound interesting.

Gee golly gee whiz. $15????? Cripes - now that I have it, I can say it is worth wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more.

My mind is scrambled. Such fun Paul!!!
Paul should be wary or someone will end up wanting to "Washington Irving Bishop" his brain early.
This is a very clever well produced PDF. Very impressive and it does make you smile.

For those of you still on the fence, here are some quotes to consider
“One of the most baffling card effects I have ever experienced! Now it can be in your tool kit.” – Jeff McBride
“I spend my life traveling around and believe me I have seen my share of card locations. I have never and I mean never, been so fooled by any other card location...EVER. When Paul finally got tired of me begging to know the method I was even more impressed at how clever it really was.” – Chris Kenner
"The effect and procedure are clear and well structured; imbued with mystery and impact. Your nuanced mix of methods is more than just clever combination or variation. Diplopia matters." – Michael Weber
“Impeccable.” – Paul Harris
“Paul Vigil is a great thinker of magic. He understands its intricacies and his effect called Diplopia is a great example. From a spectator’s view, I was thoroughly fooled and entertained. From a magician’s point of view, all of the necessary psychological ploys and subtle subterfuges are contained within and structured appropriately for maximum response. Diplopia is strong magic.” – Armando Lucero
"When Paul calls and tells me that he's got something cool to talk about, I listen. Diplopia is a great example of some of the purest work a mentalist can achieve with a borrowed deck - brought to you by none other than Paul Vigil!" – Alain Nu
“Devilishly Deceiving.” – Gazzo
"Paul Vigil has fooled me many, many times. Never however has he fooled me as badly as with this effect. It’s as clean as you could hope for and even more devious than you could imagine in your wildest dreams. It’s a perfect example of construction that elevates a card routine into strong, impactful mentalism. I can not recommend this highly enough as I simply do not think the English language contains words of high enough praise." – Luke Jermay
“Stunning! When Paul Vigil showed this to me my mouth dropped open.” – Eugene Burger
“Diplopia is an expert level routine taught to you with expert level instructions that will give you a glimpse into the mind of an expert working professional. Make sure you take the time to learn this one or someone will certainly fool you with it. Diplopia is a totally practical, totally baffling routine that you should add to your repertoire...I did!” – Bob Kohler
"Brilliant is what I said when Paul Vigil shared this with me. Paul has a way of elevating the presentation and delivery of an effect to levels that you would swear he is doing real magic. There is no exception here! This feels like the real thing." – J. Aaron DeLong
"Paul has smoothed out all the kinks and created a pure mind reading experience. Your audience will need a masseuse to work out the knots in their brains." – Raj Madhok
I performed this half a dozen times today . . . I wish I could have done it more!
The reactions are killer; people responding exactly how I did when Paul performed this for me . . . their eyes jump out of their head, the expressions on their faces are priceless. I sent a friend home trembling! This is powerful, direct, clean, simple (but not "easy"); everything I want in a routine.
Actually, the terrific MO aside, I found that learning and applying the work involved was a lot easier than I had anticipated, allowing me to really focus on the presentation. I would dare say that just about anyone could pick this up (method wise) in an hour or two.
I'm glad you guys like it. Paul, I wish you the best. Thank you.
Frat,
Jerome.

I just picked this up as an instant download from Fearson's new site. This is SOOO sweet! Absolutely diabolical, and really not difficult at all. A devastatingly good psychic effect with cards.

I don't get it, the description is very vague.
The spectator finds the magicians card and vice versa. Are those cards written down so everything can be checked afterwards? Or does the magician just say: 'Indeed, that's my card' and we must all believe that he's telling the truth.
