Daryl,
Thanks for dropping by the Café this week and I have to say I really enjoyed your Magic Inc. lecture earlier this Summer. I've been doing some of the effects taught there and in your "Droolers" lecture notes. Also, your Foolers Doolers L&L DVDs are truly my favorites! One question that I didn't get to ask you when you were in town was what false cut you would recommend when performing stand up, ie. without a table? I have a few of your Encyclopedia of Card Sleight DVDs as well as other instructional books and tapes from other magicians but haven't found a good in the hands false cut that retains the complete order of the cards. Just curious. Thanks - Kent |

Daryl,
One point of clarification as I don't want to get roasted like the other gentleman you took to task in another thread I didn't mean to say that your false cuts are not good. I meant to say I haven't found an in the hands false cut period. I believe all of the ones on the DVDs of yours are tabled false cuts. Also, I'm a bit of a newbie and I'm sure that what I seek may be readily found but I'm not sure where to look. I have Royal Road to card magic, the card magic of Paul LePaul, some Lorayne books, etc. but am still searching for that darned elusive false cut. Anyway, given that you're here I thought I'd ask your opinion. Thanks again! |

Take a look at the Frank Thompson in-the-hands false cut. You can find it on the DVD Daryl's Encyclopedia of Card Sleights, Volume 2. You can also find it in Michael Close's e-book Closely Guarded Secrets. The cut is very casual and deceptive.

Kent: No roast! I agree that the Frank Thompson cut is great and you might also want to try the Paul Rosini False Cut. Both are performed without a table and both are taught on volume two of the Encyclopedia of Card Sleights by Daryl in the False Cuts section.
