Just got this in the mail, watched the DVD and love it. We're going to use it in a stage show in January and see how it goes - but I'm guessing it'll be great.
I watched the DVD in the computer, and it did not have really smooth playback with Windows Media Player, though - but no big deal, I should've watched it in a DVD player anyway

Man... you two seem like nice young men but this isn't a winner. The opening of the DVD was a poor attempt at being street, the performance wasn't great and I'm glad you admited not being card magicians, and this won't work in virtually every situation. This looks like a case of getting something out for the sake of getting something out. Keep up the thinking but this one lacks in too many areas.
There is one situation where this will work, and I said this in the review, that is if one is around the natural home of the pop tart and you can make it almost look like a passing thought. Not a good idea for restaurants, strolling, street assassins, but might work for Mac King. On the bright side I thought the explanation was well done, meaning thought out and presented well enough, saying you found the pop tart in the card was a funny slip. It did show some creativity but just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be done. |

Forgot one thing. This would work in a kids show because of the same things that make it bad for other situations. Pop tarts are silly and finding a card in one is silly and that kind of stuff kids like.

MagicSanta,
Thanks you for the review. We enjoy hearing others opinions and suggestions. We use this effect in our stage performances for corporate events, fairs, restaurant gigs and theater shows and have had many amazing reactions from our audience members. This effect is all about presentations. Thank you for the suggestion of using the effect for kid shows. This is another great way to use the effect that we have overlooked. About being a Card magician, in the video I wanted to explain this as we don't perform with fancy moves like most card manipulators do and we don't want to give our audience false information. Everyone does ditches/steels/manipulations in there own way. Here we created a simple drop that others can perform (even the ones who are not card manipulators - which also allows this effect to be easily performed as there are no complex sleights). Again thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Cheers,

I was out wandering the desert today and pondering this and you may to emphasize this for the kid show trade. I wrote up a routine for it and it will work.
The problem is in the restaurant/strolling environment is restaurants won't want you pulling out a pop tart. I love 'em, restaurants don't. The routine is messy, the load takes two hands and a good move to do it w/out damage to the tart. Lots of problems. Just for those out there thinking...if it is a box or other container and most foods and objects can either be loaded or made to look like it was loaded...put it in Magic Magazine. |

High Desert of Nevada. Actually they are filming Extreme Home Makeovers about two miles from here and folks can see where I live....kind of what you see in Westerns including the horses.

They have to bus people in to do the work here cuz we don't have people! We had a major flood last week in town so the dry wallers etc are working for money there rather than free in Stage Coach.

As someone who performs the effect and contributed to it, I agree with you about the potential in the Kids market for the trick. However, I feel your comments about the effect being impractical for restaurant, street and strolling are incomplete. Where there is a will, there is a way. I have plenty of years working restaurants, street and strolling under my belt to say the effect can be done in those situations. With that said, there is a preconception that assumes every performance needs to be a verbatim repeat of the previous performance. This means keeping the W.M.D. in your jacket until you find a situation, or certain individual like a decision maker you want to drop it on, is considered good strategy. Chance favors the prepared mind, not the unprepared. The effect requires some prep of course, that is nothing new. I believe your comments seem to focus around wanting to do the effect at every table, each individual, every angle, etc.. Obviously a table of some sort is required to rest the bag on, but that in no way rules the effect out from being done on the street where you might find a bench, table, box etc... Not everyone has to stroll up to a person or group in a sterile sleeves up, hands empty approach or do the same machine gun act 10 times nightly.

Thanks Sean for the kind words. Lots of possible ways to present this effect.
Love to hear how others are presenting this. Cheers,
