Because he is unquestionably the worst magician in the history of magic to achieve success.

Criss Angel uses television to his advantage to accomplish most of his effects. In my view, an illusion is an illusion, and must be achieved some way or another, and will always (at its base) be a lie. Using editing accomplishes an illusion by way of subterfuge, as is the way any other effect is accomplished.
That said, Angel definitely lacks skill but boasts that he has more skill than any other of the big names. In that way he deserves some of the disrespect that he receives. But what DEFINITELY seals him in as a deserving victim of criticism is his treatment of other magicians and his general attitude. I attended IMX 2012 in Las Vegas, and there was an arrangement for everyone to receive complimentary tickets to "Believe." This wasn't something I was excited to see, so when the deal was revoked, I wasn't particularly disappointed - especially because Terry Fator offered us free admission to his show instead. As it happened, Angel told the IMX team that the tickets were conditional - the condition was that IMX had to agree to give a testimony that Criss Angel's "Believe" was "The best magic show in the world." Naturally, the organizers declined the offer. Angel's team then tried to compromise by saying that a testimony of "The best show on the Las Vegas strip" would suffice. Still, IMX refused. So Angel revoked his offer. In my opinion, this was a classless move. To add insult to injury, Angel showed up to IMX during the last days to get footage of himself "supporting his fans." This is why I hate Criss Angel. |

WOW, now there's a reason to show him total disrespect. How degrading for Angel. His greatest illusion is his fame, LOL. What an amazing insight into this guy.

Like many people have said before me, I don't hate him, but I don't like the camera tricks he pulls. I really dislike when Magicians take it to a level where they are using stooges and fake crowd members/actors. To me it ruins what I love about magic. He is kinda like the WWE superstar to the backyard wrestlers. I liked his close up stuff he did in the bars in part of his show but when I saw him 'levitate' 3, 4 even 5 stories high (on mindfreak) I facepalmed and switched the channel never to watch him again.
I don't hate him I just like David Blaine and others a lot more. |

Perhaps his success is his greatest illusion? He had a successful t.v. show. What else? Yes it made him popular, wealthy and created some hype, but now what? That is over. His new show is a shell of his former, his stage show has never set the world on fire for obvious reasons. So now the question is what is next? What else can he do other than being the star of a once popular t.v. show that is off the air, as far as I "believe" not in syndication or reruns. He's coming into the later part of his 10 year deal on stage. So to me his next move is most important.
I don't really see him as a magician (Burton, Copperfield), mentalist or hypnotist, but rather a well-recognized street performer who had/has a t.v. show. |

So, there were a couple of people that were saying he is doing his magic and since he is an entertainer that doing camera tricks and edits constitutes magic. And he is doing his job and that is to entertain. But by that logic it means that anyone in a hollywood movie doing magic is a magician.

I don't hate him either. I see both positives and negatives to him and his work. Hate's a waste of energy so I generally do my best to avoid it.
