Posted this in 'inner thoughts', but it probably appropriate here:
I've been thinking lately about personalising the story of a Koran's Medallion type routine, and I am curious if any of you have a particular story or variation of the routine that you would like to share that adds weight to your effect? Thanks for any feedback, Tom. |

I did mine with a visual pic instead of a number on the back of a scarab necklace.

COLLARD is a wonderful piece of thinking on the classic medallion plot.
I bought it just for a one time performance I did. And I used it with a living dog. Kudos to John Archer...

And, speaking of the medallion style routine, I have also done that as a final proof for something else that happened ... If you get my hint!

I like collard from John Archer.
I had some idea about the puppet. I think the pelush have to be more used I use a Hyena and not a dog (because I'm not like everybody, I'm mentalist ! lol And I had some funny idea (I think so...) My hyena laugh ! **** on me (not very class but funny) and my hyena does like a humping dog( move on my leg)... Some works on the pelush but it's become more entertaining Now that's funny !

I know someone who does one with a plastic dog-turd...
I've often thought of using a sw**i, instead of the d-w'ing...
I've asked to be banned

Yeah, I'm thinking of using a sw**i too.

In The Conjuring Anthology, Jim Steinmeyer has a great stage/parlor routine called "The Human Slot Machine". It uses the Koran Medallion as a final kicker to a larger routine.

I use this with my watch. I wear the create-your-own-watch style watch from fossil (interchangeable time pieces with a thick leather watch band). Because of this, I can wear the watch band with the time piece only connected to the top part of the band and have the bottom part of the timepiece un-attached. This allows you to move the timepiece up and down since it is not completely attached, and it makes it easier to apply your dirty work. If you don't own this style of watch this may be hard to visualize, but this fits my character (I wouldn't have a medallion on me) and the fact that I am wearing the watch makes it seem that much more impossible. I also enjoy Andy Nyman's Deep Red Prediction from GET NYMAN. He does this with a video membership card and a video rental. This is definitely a stage piece, but his subtlelties on doing your d****e w*****g is absolutely fantastic! You could also do a Koran's Medallion with a belt buckle, or have it on the inside of your belt. Taking off your belt for the reveal can be loaded with comedic bits!
You can also switch gears entirely and do a confabulation type routine. Or, better yet, imagine doing a confabultation routine and using the medallion as part of your reveal. This may be "too perfect", but this can be accomplished. For confabulation routines (and more tips on d****e w*****g) I would check out Marc Spelmann's CHAPTER 3 DVD or Mark Striving's routine from DESERT BRAINSTORM SERIES VOL. 2. |

I had fun using ringflight from my back pocket for the medallion reveal. Works great.

When I bring the spec up, I ask the spec (before showing the medallion), "What are the first 4 letters of the word 'coincidence'?" (they say C-O-I-N). I then say "and that spells 'COIN!!'...(dump coin in their hand)...but not just any coin, a beautifully engraved coin...etc."

I use the Mental Prediction Act by Mikame. It really is a good routine for this kind of effect (although I did make a few changes on the props).

Just a little precision, on this effect by Mikame, the numbers are printed and not hand written, and the key can be handed out to the spectators.
