Hey guys, I lost out on this recently on eBay. It was being sold as a separate manuscript. And I was wondering if anyone knows if it can be found in his Scarne On Card Tricks book or elsewhere such as lybrary.com..
Any help appreciated... d. |

Dylan,
I don't know who originally sold the trick but I bought the two page description of the trick about 30 years ago from Jeff Busby. You might check with him or with H & R Magic Books. Scarne claims there is a non-sleight-of-hand version in Scarne on Cards. Although in the Power of Thought there really isn't much sleight of hand going on. Here is baically a description of the trick. Scarne solicits 7 audience members to assist him. Before he strats anything he writes a prediction on a piece of paper. Then he asks an audience member to pull a group of cards from the center of the deck (7 cards). These are dealt out by the spectator in a line on the table one for each person. He has the committee select one person as captain of the team. I won't go into a complete description of what happens but Scarne accurately predicts the card the captain of the team will get. I think if you bought the manuscript you might be a little disappointed by the method but I may be wrong. Anyway I hope this helps. Best wishes, Steve |

I have an old copy of this and can't find any information about it. I maybe interested in selling it if someone is interested.
It's a great trick and I've used it for years. Bold but simple. Brent Braun |

I think this idea would be great in combination with a Bagshawe Deck.

Here's a brief description of John Scarne's Think-a-Card.
Deck is spread face up on the table. First spectator is requested to think of one of the cards. Performer writes something on a sheet of cigarette paper, rolls it into a pellet and places it on the table in front of the first spectator. Spectator is asked to place his card face up on the pellet. Same procedure is carried out with a second assistant. Now the deck is spread face down. Performers announces that he is going to make a prediction and again writes something on a cigarette paper, rolls it into a pellet and places it on the table. Then a 3d person is requested to push a face down card from the spread. The prediction-pellet is placed on this card. The performer then places the pellets from the first two spectators on the faces of their corresponding cards. He then asks to read their pellets. After these revelations the performer opens his pellet and reads his prediction. A spectator is asked to turnover the prediction card and the card matches the prediction. This description is based on the description of the original manuscript called John Scarne's Think-a-card, which btw was a U.F. Grant exclusive. |
