Hello fellow coin workers,
The intention of this post is to comprise a useful list of existing material for the expanded [ coin. I know there is a wealth of information in this forum regarding the gimmick, but there is nothing I have found which contains a majority of information under one post. The idea is to be able to look under one post and reference material with ease. So if you know of good routines or work that employs the [, please don’t hesitate to post. If you do post, please list the following: who created the material, where it can be found, and if you feel so, provide a brief description of the work. I will get things started: Coin Man Walking DVD by Dan Watkins Purchase off his site www.coinvanish .com Routines that use shell: outsDANding, fingertip coins to pocket, coinvention crossing Sencillo (ebook) by Rannie Raymundo Purchase off the following site: http://www.vinnymarini.com Look forward to seeing other post! The [ has been described as one of the most powerful weapons in a coin worker's arsenal. I think it was Dean Dill that said this, and many (or most) of his matrix routines feature this gimmick. Others include Troy Hooser (exTROYdinary, in his book and DVDs) and Chris Korn, who utilize the [ in much the same way in their "flurry" type routines. Derek Dingle has some routines featuring the gimmick, which can be found in "The Complete Works of Derek Dingle" by Kaufman. Kainoa Harbottle has routines utilizing the shell in his Coinapalooza books. Daniel Garcia has a fun routine- "My Personal Safe"- that features a coins across and some antics with a spectator's jewelery. Jonathan Townsend (i.e. super-jedi coin master and lord of all things magic) has routines in Apocalypse (and elsewhere, I'd imagine)... the list really goes on. My favorite reference has already been mentioned by Dr. Rubinstein- NYCMS Vol. 1 Coins Across. I'm getting ready to buy it again as disc 2 was eaten recently by my rambunctious puppy, but it really is an indispensable resource. These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head... but I'm sure this barely scratches the surface.

You will find the gaff discussed in Hoffmann's More Magic both in context of the coins across trick and in an almost prescient and personally inspiring routine done at the fingertips. You can also find a reference in Hofzinser's conjuring used in context of a copper and silver coin transposition. There is a reference to something close to the [ gaff in Scot's Discoverie of Witchcraft
Hope those historical (and inspirational) references help.

All of hte above listed (so far) seems like a good start. A couple of other good sources would be:
John Kennedy's "Translocation", which is an excellent routine using a [, though the only source I am aware of is in his oop lecture notes. Should he ever choose to release it, Tim Conover's cover of this routine is pretty much the definitive work. Also, some fairly recent work has been released by Charlie Justice; I especially like several of the subtleties offered in his "Covert Coins" DVD. TW

H&L listed the Kennedy III lecture notes recently. Perhaps they can help if you want them.
