Okay, from reading the posts it looks like the Ijet is a good option for controling an ipod nano. I am finally going to enter the new century and stop using my custom mixed CDs. I have found an Ipod nano with an LCD screen which I can use to switch playlists while on the road for different shows. This Ipod nano is also on sale.
But I noticed there is more than one Ijet to choose from. Is there one that is better than the other for my purposes? Thanks. Jim

James,
1700 Post and you never heard of the SEARCH feature. But here you go: Currently the companies that offer Nano remotes are ABT with their IJet and Scosche (which are ABT with a different label but have more Nano products). Though Scosche has more remotes to offer for the IPOD Nanos. To control an IPOD Nano with a remote presently requires you to buy the Scosche Nano remote package which is around $80.00 dollars, it comes with a bottom dock receiver that does not block the audio hole. In contrast, if you have a regular IPOD (Non-Nano)remote package it will run $40 or less from ABT and other companies. If you don't like the Ipod Nano remotes from Scosche then add another $12.99-$30.00 for a different IPOD remote that is compatible such as the ABT IPOD remotes, please call ABT to confirm. DO NOT BUY the 2 way ABT Remote (trust me). Here is Scoshe products: http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/210/sfID2/218 Additionally I believe that this remote will work with the Scosche Ipod Nano receivers since ABT builds and some ABT tech guy told me so: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as......55997501 Or you can get the more expensive black remote at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as......55997031 The remotes listed at Newegg come with a bottom dock receiver blocks the Nano audio out hole. But the remotes should work with the Scosche Nano bottom dock receiver. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as......55997031 CALL ABT to confirm. Also in case you don't check, a good friend of mine Kelly Duro from Virtual Soundman is having a sale on the Icue2, only $599.99 including a FREE Ipod. Tell him G0THIKE from the MagicCafe says Hi, he will treat you well. http://www.virtualsoundman.com/order.html G0THIKE |

I agree with Gothike, avoid the iJet 2-way...however, I use the iJet for iPod Nano RF Remote and FM Transmitter ($44.95, http://www.theistore.com). The iPod slides into the protective case attached to the receiver. The audio plug is fully accessible. The RF remote is fully functional through walls & curtains and easily reaches 100+ feet (although the full promised 150 feet range is a bit of a stretch from my experience.) I've had VERY few problems and misfires with this unit.
I glued a small pointed rhinestone to the ADVANCE button so I can feel it through the fabric of my vest. (Thank you to Nathan Roberts for this great tip!) Makes it very easy to move from track to track. With silent tracks inserted between my music pieces I never have to use pause, stop or play.

Your best bet is the iCue2 from Virtual Soundman. No hacking, no silent tracks, nothing to duct tape together or hope will work.
Take it from me, and Kelly Duro's "good friend" (choke) Raphael, the iCue2 can't be outdone by products designed for home/personal use. Steve |

I replaced a Cue Pro remote and my Sony Minidisk console with the iJet remote and my Nano. No duct tape. No hacking. No extra baggage. One cable. iCue2 is a great product and more than fills the need for those who can afford it or need a good professional unit. In my opinion, the iJet and Nano work just as well for those with a set musical structure to their shows...and considerably cheaper. iCue2 allows professional fades, track changes and lead ins. iJet adequately fills a basic need allowing you to set a few bucks aside for the iCue2. You decide what works best to fill your individual needs.

I think I screwed up a bit. I got the ijet from one of the above links and it's compatible with the nano 1st and 2nd generation. But when I went to Best Buy they only carry the 3rd generation nanos now. Whoops. I will have to hunt around the internet more for a 2nd generation nano to fit the ijet that I ordered.

Sorry, James...I keep forgetting that they've changed the Nano. If you have any trouble finding an older unit, my daughter is dating the manager of the local Apple store...I can ask him to find a deal for you!

Skip,
Can you find out for me. None of the stores have them anymore and the one's online are way over the price of the 3rd generation for a lot less capacity. Thanks. 2 or 4 gigs would be okay. Most of them online aren't new either. Since it's for use in shows, I want a new one. Jim

James.
Try Circuit City, they sell refurbished units. Ask them what store carries them. Also the 3rd generation nano's cost less and they will have more capacity. But they are not presently compatible with your IJet so make a decision. A 2 gig Nano 2nd generation should hold about 1000 songs. That should be way more than enough for your show. But maybe next week, next month, or never, someone will create a Nano remote for the 3rd gen. Remember use the Ipod for your show and not to upload your whole music collection. G0THIKE |

That's very important. I have 2 iPods..one for my music and the other STRICTLY for show use!

Yes, I will only use it for show use. But I do want to get a new one not a used one. Any ideas from anyone? I think I checked circuit city and all that any of the stores have in 1st and 2nd generation are only ipod accessories. No one carries them anymore!

Anyone have experience with the iJet 2way and 5th generation iPods?

I bought the ABT iJet remote for my 5th gen iPod. It works, however I would like to use the pass through but the problem is volume control. You don't get volume control. (The pass through, use a docking cable to 3.5mm or docking cable to rca)
The other problem is when you use the head phone port to a pa system, it pops and crackles. Anyone know of a filter that can be used between the iPod and pa system?

Rich,
In the bottom of the IJet receiver (bottom dock) is the audio jack/connector that you should plug in the 3.5mm to rca connector. Not in the regular IPOD audio jack. Also a Direct Box should solve the pops and cracks. The IPOD signal is "line level" audio signal. You might be plugging into a "microphone level" for microphones. Some mixers have both mic. & line levels. What PA system are you using? G0THIKE |

Thanks for the reply... I took a trip to the local RS and browsed around. I bought three different items and the last item I bought was a in-line volume control by accurian. This set-up is working great. No hissing - no popping - no cracking, and it sounds good. (I turned the in line volume control all the way down)
The ABT iJet that I received doesn't have the audio jack in the dock base, just a pass through #IJETV2-B and the remote. I am using the Fender P10W. I was plugging the head phone jack from the iPod to the line in on the P10W. I don't think it will be a problem with my PD-150.

Rich,
My bad, the LCD Ijet has the jack in the receiver. Did you RESTART the IPOD before you installed the bottom dock base? Sometimes the IPOD buffer needs to clear. Also test your IPOD in another PA system besides the Fender P10W. If it sounds good, you might have some radio interference or wrong connectors issue with the P10W. |
