So, I now have a web site. Check it out...
http://www.magictonythomas.com/ Be nice. I did it myself and it only cost $14. GoDaddy is pretty inexpensive... |

Looks great for a 14 dollar site, easy to read and navigate, gives clear message, gives good picts, etc. I've seen worse that people paid big bucks for.

Your phone number is getting cut off in the box beside your logo. Other than that, I like the simple layout.

Tony,
That godaddy banner at the top screams "amateur". You can host a site with Godaddy for something like $50 a year. I think your career is worth the $50 investment. You'll make it back many times over just on the fact that clients will see you as more pro when they visit your site. Best, Tim Day 1 |

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
The phone number is cut off? Huh? On my computer it has a good 1/2 inch below it. It must display differently on different computers. Thanks for letting me know. Is the number cutting off for others as well? Timothy - I was actually surprised by that banner of adds at the top when I published the site. I have another site with GoDaddy that doesn't do that. I assumed this was the new way their sites work. I'll call the tech support. Maybe for a few extra $'s I won't have to be such a godaddy billboard. Thanks. BTW - This is not my career! I have invested two master degrees into my career. This is a hobby gone mad... |

I'm looking at it in FireFox if that helps anything.

Thanks Sibbie - I appreciate you letting me know that it is doing that. I'm planning to contact the support network. I'll ask them about a fix for that as well.

Tim,
What screen resolution are you using? Mine is set at 1024 x 768. That will effect a site as well depending on how it is designed. |

Using Firefox on Linux, the bottom of Raleigh, North Carolina is cut off. Enough is there to read it, and at first glance I didn't know what was wrong, it just looked a little odd.
Overall, I think you did a great job.

I viewed your site using Internet Explorer with a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels. No problems. Looks great! Nice pictures -- they present you as an outgoing, friendly, fun kind of magician!
I do agree with the suggestion made above in another post to pay a few extra dollars and obliterate the banner ads at the top of the site. Those ads do scream "amateur!" and "Don't take me seriously!" |
