I am mainly a coin worker now but started out with cards. I like packet tricks and am trying to create a routine with three or four tricks that use the same 3 or 4 cards. So far I got: -"I Hate David Copperfield Trick" by Williams
-"Cross Twist" or "Bizarre Twist" by Harris Any Suggestions? -Jeff P.S. What is the difference between Williams' "I Hate David Copperfield Trick" and Jennings' "The Close-Up Illusion"? and do they each use normal cards? |

The Jennings routine use a prepared, normal card. I'm not aware of the Williams effect.

I tend to open my close up/strolling act with "Twisting The Aces", then "Dr. Daley's Last Trick", and then say that it doesn't only happen with aces, and then I go through the deck and get out the cards to do the "Bizarre Twist".
The method is not the secret.

My absolute favorite four card trick is "Twins" by Bro. John Hammon.

As above one of my all time favorite sequences is Twisting the Aces followed by Daley's Last Trick. Note that my adding just one more card you could then do any variant of Color Monte, etc. I would take a blank face card and in green Sharpie put the finish to Color Monte, etc. and just have it ready. You could also just add a Queen and do a more classic Monte demo also. Best,

Thanks for clearing that up Paul. Michael, I'll have a look at Twins. And Brad, I'll have to check out Daley's Last Trick.

If you were willing to move up to 6 cards, you could add an Oil and Water routine as well.

You could do Dr Daleys last trick with the same cards as you use for twins. This would convince the spectators you were using trick cards.Which would be great if you have the cards examined.

John Carney's "Sanverted" is a combo of and ambitious card effect and Daly's Last Trick using the four Aces. I love this trick. Before doing it I perform the last sequence of Rendezvous Aces from my book KOTR. You can find "Sanverted" in his book Carneycopia.

A nice matrix will blend both cards and coins. In "flipped out" there is an assembly where the final coin finds a selected card

Here is a routine of mine:
1) Twisting the Aces. 2) Doc Daley's Last Trick. 3) Mini Oil & Water. (Bill Miesel, found in J. Mentzer's "Packet Tricks"). All done with 4 cards (Aces). Cardamagically, Dom. :)

Here is my little list of packet tricks that I do, They look oddly familiar!
Twisting the Aces Dr. Daley's Last Trick Color Monte (Although lately I have been doing This, That and the Other) And The Twins - This is by far my most requested packet effect, And it is just cool to watch the reactions on the spectators' faces...they aren't sure if what they are seeing is what they are seeing. I also sometimes throw in a 10 card poker routine, although for the life of me I can't think of the name of it.

Aldo Colombini's Packet Trick Picks is a STEAL ! Very good dvd, last night I skim through the content, and am very pleased with this one. There are some using 5 cards, but mostly more than 5, I'll check again when I got back home later
For $10 I am willing to pay more, and in fact I think this should be priced more than just $10! |

In addition to those already mentioned here are some more good 3-5 card routines:
NFW Double Back Asher Twist Ricochet Entourage (may use 6 cards, I don't have it in front of me right now) B'wave 3 card monte (duh!) Bicycle Built for Five What's the name of that 3-card trick where the middle card melts up through to the top? Many effects are seemingly done with 3-5 cards, but actually use an extra card or two.
