Gordon Bean sent me one of his latest creation. It's timely... pun intended. First, you should know a bit about Gordon. He is obsessive when it comes to magic... especially effects he is creating. This particular effect was worked on for six years. How many would take that kind of time to perfect all the nuances involved. I've seen Gordon work a simple packet trick over and over until he has so many variations, moves, subtleties, etc, that it makes your brain spin... mine did. He is never satisfied until he works out ever single detail... and then he works on it some more.
Okay, so now the new effect: Timecard. You riffle through a deck of cards and they stop you anywhere. You let them see their card and have them lock it in their mind. Now you talk about deja vu and how there's an important time associated with this effect. They pick any hour or any half on the hour as their time. You look through the pack and find their card. Not only do you find it but the time they called out is written boldly on the back of it.
Some things you should know: It will work with any hour or half hour on the hour called. You don't need to know the time they will call before you start the effect. They can call any of those times. The backs of the rest of the deck are constantly displayed showing no other time. It has an automatic reset that's perfect for strolling. The special deck is made from standard Bicycle playing cards and it is not roughed and smoothed.
I can see this playing as a stand alone effect or within a series of effects having to do with time. You could easily incorporate it at a birthday or anniversary celebration or to that special client you want to Wow.
Technically it is within most magician's reach. Standard moves gets the job done and the deck does most of the work for you.
As a mentalist I thought, "I would take their card and pretend to write a time at the back then later on ask them to name a time and find the card again... I have predicted what time they would call out."
Easy to use, instant reset, powerful image and almost no work involved to make it work every time... what more can you ask for?
Timcard sells for $30 and you can look for more info at: gordonbean.com

Thanks for that, Greg.
Gordon does produce some great effects. This one seems destined to be right up there with the best of them.
Thanks again for the heads up.

Here is my review of Gordon Bean's Timecard.
What the Ad Says: The Magician locates a selected card and then reveals that a freely named time is written on the back.
What you get. A gaffed bicycle deck of cards. A nice instruction booklet with photos and detailed steps. This is my impression of this trick and with most Gordon Bean tricks I have purchased. At first I read the instructions and get confused. But then I take out the cards that are provided and go through step by step and presto...I end up with a great effect. This is an extra neat one because not only do you show them their freely chosen card..on the back is a freely chosen time. The spectator can choose any time they want. No force. I did it several times and it made me smile. Simple to do but powerful and should really impress. The time or the card can be chosen first. Automatic reset. Very nice. The cost is very reasonable for a full deck trick at around 30 bucks. One of the things I am very impressed with about tricks from Gordon are the instructions. I have purchased so many tricks that come with imcomplete or shoddy instructions that look thrown together. The booklets for this trick is no exception with clear step by step photo instructions for a couple of different handling. I take my hat off to you Mr Bean. Another impressive trick.

Do you write in the times yourself or are they pre-printed?

So is it just on the hour and half pat times that can be named?
Would you know if you had memory loss??

This almost sounds like an improved version of 'Phil" . In Phil the magi calls out the name on the back of the specs thought of card.
And this effect, the spec calls out a time that ends up on a selected card. Sounds pretty great to me.
That's quite an improvement. And Phil has always been a great and simple trick to do. How difficult if Timepiece to perform? The review mentioned standard sleights.

Will it work with 24 hour, or military time, like 14:00?

No. It is meant for just hours and half past hours.

Timecard is very easy to perform. Simple handling and method makes it easy to do but impressive to the spectator. I am a beginner and this trick makes me look like a pro.

This is my payback for all the times he smoked me with a new handling of one his packet effects. Every time I thought all various presentations and moves had been covered, Gordon would come up with a new one.

I ordered mine today. I am not big on carrying gaffed decks but when the effect is strong enough it makes it worthwhile. I am anxious to see if this fits the bill... it sounds great! Taller8, I will drop you a note and let you know....
Best,
