I was informed by his daughter, Julie Eng, that her father Tony Eng passed away yesterday.
Tony was from the Victoria, BC area, and was well known for his incredible performance skills both on stage and close-up. He was a kind man on stage and off, and impacted the lives of many, many entertainers. He was very active in the magic community. As well as being a full-time performer who toured nationally at times, he ran a local Trick and Joke Shop (now owned by Murray Hatfield) for many years, and was a true Embassador of Magic. - Donald

I am shocked and deeply upset by this news.
Being from Victoria and going to Tonys shop since I was 12 (25 years ago ), I have so many fond memories of this amazing man. He always took time to treat everyone equally, even a 12 year kid interested in magic. God bless Him and his Family, Rest in peace Tony, Andrew Gerard
Well then...

Tony Eng was a true gentleman and a master magician. I remember meeting him 30 years ago at David Wilson's house. There was a bar in the basement and Tony held court as David, Ray Wong and I looked on. Dave, Ray and I went to high school together and it tells you a lot about a guy like Tony who would take the time to hang out with some kids who all had just caught the magic bug. Tony will be sadly missed by the entire magic community.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Eng family. jeff |

Our magic club (the Victoria Magic Circle) had a great meeting last night, with our annual "Tony Competition" for a trophy which is also a bust of him. The Competition is in his name, and Tony had also set up the guidelines that the judges used. The "Tony Competition" has been a part of our club for about 5-6 years now.
Julie Eng and Suley were actually at the Tony Competition last night as guests, which was incredible. All of the performers did an amazing job, and the evening was clearly a tribute to Tony in our own club way. Lots of tears, lots of stories, lots of laughter, etc. It was definitely a Tony focused evening, and our hearts, minds, and performances were centred on the great man he was. - Donald

Hi,
I had to take a double take at the post/ "Oh no!, Not Tony! This can't be!" I am truly saddened by the loss of this wonderful man. My memories of him from numerous conventions over the years is his perpetual smile and warm manner towards friends and strangers alike. Goodbye Tony you will be missed. My condolences to his family.
