Hello everyone I am not sure weather this is the right place for this post so please move it to the correct location if possible I have tried to look for the correct place and it seems it only fits here.
I would like to know if anyone here performes in the United Kindom and if so what places do you normally do you shows at. Magic Unlimited are trying to move to the UK for a while and we are looking for venues, promoters etc. I know the UK market is quite frankly a tricky one in terms of magic but any help on this matter if you have been doing shows in the UK would be great. Are there any established magicians do theater shows at the momement ? I look foward to hearing from you soon MU Marketing |

Hi mu,
well, if you like rubbish weather, hoodies ready to knife you, 4 hour gridlock traffic jams, high taxes, fuel at over 2 dollars US a litre, miserable people, hot underground, terrible trains, an unelected prime minister, government departments that lose millions of pieces of data (left on the train) fees just so you can watch TV (not satellite), beaches that have stones and not sand, etc. ad nauseum. if you don't mind the above...im sure you'll have a great time! but seriously, why in the hell would you want to come, when you can perform anywhere in the US market? ps...i really do like the UK but I feel there are much better markets to work in. regards, geoff.

You guys should move to California.
You'd be a hit at the Castle, especially with that great "hand" routine. bb |

Agreed, everything pretty much sucks here at the moment, but the beach at Great Yarmouth is pretty nice, when it isn't full of hoodies. I can never understand why all the illegal aliens flock here!

There is no market. We have more children's entertainers every ten yards then in most countries.
Illusionist have all gone bust and are either working on cruise ships or stocking shelves at the Supermarket. Theme park magicians are few and far between. Camelot and Alton Towers are the two biggest but they already have a magician for this year, and for the foreseeable future. You can try the holiday park circuit but it pays really badly and they only tend to hire artist that live close due to the increasing fuel cost problems. They cannot afford to hire long distance acts anymore and put them up overnight. Close Up magicians are doing okay, but its not as if the market is crying out for another one. We have thousands on them in each town and it seems that every bar-tender, till-worker and sales clerk knows the Elmsley count nowadays. If your thinking about busking, then think again. Its illegal in Britain. There are a few shopping centres that permit charitable busking, but you have to audition first and be pre-approved by a panel of managers. Its gone way out of control, and the rainy weather keeps the punters away anyway. Britain is a great place to live, but we have far too many 'long-term visitors' here at the moment and there definitely isn't enough decent work for the magicians already here. Steve |
