Amado,
Great stuff there and it is so refreshing to see someone taking manipulative magic and routining in new and creative directions. That is very well done and well written. It certainly also gives the audience so much more then a person on stage showing skill alone. You are giving the audience more "substance". Kyle

First thing that came to mind for someone with gift of gab was Multiplying Bottle routine. I saw Denny do a routine that was just unforgetable. (Denny of Denny & Lee. Forgot his last name but his routine I remember) It's not card manipulation but may give balance to your act. Do a silent card routine with music then blow them away with 7 minute bottle routine with patter.

FISM award winner Gaston does a sort of manipulation act with a comedy patter as his character Günter.

I would suggest Levent's Salt Pour Gimmick and Instructional DVD. It is often mimed to music, but many talk through a routine with this affect. It is a great slight of hand affect. I have been toying with a routine that involves some talking and music. The routine I am working on involves a popcorn bucket, popcorn, some dialoge about current movies, and of course SALT...

Don't forget the great T. Nelson Downs did his famous act to patter.
At the moment I'm working on a similar thing, but it's proving difficult! Paul |

Talking manipulation magic has been around for many years. In vaudeville they used patter with there magic. Check out the Buckley books for an example.
Silent acts became more of a cross continent method of presenting magic as most performers cannot speak a 2nd language. If you want to perform around the world and do not want to learn a new language then silent was the way to do this. I think the best of to days magician who has become successful combining manipulation and patter is Fielding West. |

A youtube search on FISM would eventually lead to a close up magician performing a routine with Sharpie markers. I think its a great example of a spoken manipulation act. I'm not sure of his name but I heard from a friend that he makes a living as restaurant manager
