Say what you want about Criss. But this clip of him busting a 'psychic' had me cheering:
http://www.nbc.com/Phenomenon/video/#mea=176604 I have mixed feelings of Criss and will post those later.
All small town magicians know what 793.8 signifies.

It didn't have the John Edwards or the Sylvia Brownes of the world in the show. They were PERFORMERS. And what makes it worse is that CA himself did a fake seance in his show which he demonstrated as real. And he did a prediction that he portrayed as real. I would have no problems with CA if all he did was his TV magic tricks that only had to do with floating, penetration, vanishing and the like, but when he himself does mentalism and portrays it as real then he has canceled his opinion on it. He is part of the same group he is attacking. And that's how I see the problem. Greg

If we are going to say camera tricks and edits are magic...
...then Barbara Eden should be magician of the year. Better to look at in that outfit too... ...with or without belly button. |

What has become of the magic culture? laymen think Criss when they think of magic. We magicians are BETTER then Criss Puking Angel. As the Great Doug Higley once said, Criss is a Pee Pee Hat

Since it was mentioned,"stooges, camera edits, insincerity" etc, it reminds me of another well known street magician that does the impossible . I can't stand it when the impression of supernatural power is implied such as 'resurecting the dead pigeon in the park". Is this phoney "magic" what the public expects from the rest of us?

He did some stuff that we can do and is on the market but presented them really neat. Example cap in bottle into exploding bottle. Think about DC doing portal great illusion and great presentation but obviously not a random guy and DC gets no flack for that so using your own beer bottle isn't as bad Now if yo are familiar with the method that beer HAD to be given to the guy it wasnt just a random beer but does it matter? The presentation was awesome or he might have switched the beer in which would be no different then switching in a himber
Thanks,

Funny, I don't remember Mark Wilson, Doug Henning or even, GULP, (Dare I say) David Copperfield getting this kind of abuse. [/quote] Then your memory is not as good as mine. In point of fact Copperfield was beaten soundly just for using camera ANGLES that prevented the method from being seen. Many old Genii's took him to task for the fact that if you were sitting in the audience you saw exactly how the trick was done, only the people at home were fooled. When it was learned the show was "edited" it really got bad for him. However, he stopped doing it. His specials got better for it. We can only hope others will learn from that... |
