Al, just because you are in your forties does not mean you are old.

When Al and I were in our 40s we weren't old.

I just noticed this and could not let it pass.
I have a very nice cape that was made for me. It features a heavy slipper satin out side with a red satin lining. I walk out with it over my arm and it figures into my warm up. The first trick I do after the warm up uses the cape in the routine. The cape goes away till needed again for my comedy handcuff escape. I don't care what you say, I will not give up my cape!!!

Jeff McBride wore a cape during the first part of his performance on the 2008 World Magic Awards, which aired tonight. He wore it during his mask productions and at one point even wore a silk top hat. He made some rather "flourishy" moves with the cape just prior to disposing of it on an assistant's arm. The cape looked very well made and of very nice material; although, it looked just a smidge too short in my opinion, but I am not a cape fashionista.

As Edna said on the Incredibles "no capes!" Love that whole bit when she runs down the list of all the supers that died because they were wearing capes.

I can say for sure as of today, but Lance Burton may still wear a cape.
If you want a mysterious look without the cape, try draping a trench-coat or similar over your shoulders without putting your arms in the sleeves. Thom |

In movies a cape looks cool and sometimes I think maybe I should give it a try. The problem is most people don't think there cool when used in the real world.

I know a comic magician that uses his cape to cover what he pulls out from his jacket. It´s fun to watch him.

Danny Cole does at the beginning of his act...it fits nicely with the way he starts his show.
Lance uses one for a particular illusion, but it too is part of the character he's playing, and it doesn't stick around long. Then again, in that illusion, neither does Lance.

Necro threading, I know, but...
*raises hand* I do wear a cape on occasion. Reverseable black velvet/red satin, VERY high collar. Had it custom made and it keeps me warm and completes the look (which, for me, is Victorian)
