Ok . . . I watched those effects, which I understand are all on these DVD's . . . and I am utterly nonplussed. Of course I knew the Invisible Palm from way back when, but the other stuff . . . wow.

Well... I'll be locking myself away after I get this set.
So, yes. I trust the content on it will be incredible. Not to mention even the effects you may decide not to use... will still on some level inspire you with the creativity used in it's method. This will open doors to new effects/variations and spin offs. With the added bonus of the forum. We should be in for a pretty wild time |

I'm really looking forward to the interviews with Paul and various other folks, as well as the hidden cookies that we know virtually nothing about so far
I also can not wait to dig into the new LVL ending!

When the DVDs come out (hopefully very soon!) - maybe we can set up a separate thread to keep track of all the Easter Eggs that people uncover...

Jason said he'd comprise a list, so people like me that couldn't find an Easter Egg if they sat on it, can access them.

I'll be spending a lot of time in the TA forums when they open. Hopefully everyone who brought it from the AP posts the information they find there. I will be posting the TA diaries there since I want to go back and see how the journey has impacted my magic and I also want to give something back to Jason and the others who have done so much work for us. I'll be bowing down to them for a long, long time.
Let's have a discussion to occupy our time: what effects are you most looking forward to seeing? For me, it's Twilight Angels, New Leaf, Cheng's Change, New Las Vegas Leaper, Cheng's Riser, Half Moon, Pack of Lies, Solid with a Happy Ending, Dr. Fun, Lubor's Lens, Naked Strange, Reswindled, Ripped and Fryed, Cellmates, Dunn's Deal, Invisible Palm, Belly Button, Muscle Bend, Unstable Label, the TA Pen, and Angel Cake. (did I just name a large majority of the effects). I'm sure that I'll be surprised by all of the others as well - these next two weeks are going to be slow! |

Wow... the whole thing is such an amazing line up that's it's very hard to name what I am most looking forward to. I guess for me it's The New Las Vegas Leaper and Dr. Fun.. but wait... add to that the lens and cellmates... oh wait! Also... I have never done much magic with bills and I am hoping the TA Pen converts me a little there... but wait! Belly Button looks awesome... and also... well... lol, yeah... everything

It might be because I'm new here, but what's secret sessions?

One thing I've noticed about the set is that there is a lot more magic with bills than I usually see. In AoA, a lot of the money effects use coins, and the beginning of bill magic came later in Paul's career (as seen in the New Effects). However, there's only one coin effect on these DVDs (Water Trap) and a ton of bill effects. Darwin Ortiz mentions in Strong Magic that magic with bills is becoming more meaningful to audiences since you don't see coins as often as bills nowadays. Do you think this shift was meaningful by Paul since bill magic is more unexplored than coin magic and because bill magic has more value to audiences?

Not sure, probably.
In the mid 1980's after reading through Las Vegas Close-Up a few times, I started doing Thomas O'Lenick's "Aero-Dynamic Dollar", exactly as Paul described it. I would use it as more of an attention getter at parties than an actual magic effect. People liked it so I did it a bit in the 90's while doing the restaurant/strolling scene. lol I always loved that bit of strange I did a few other dollar effects... Mis-Led when it came out, a floating bill in the restaurants, etc... but I never studied bill magic and never got into any of the great bill effects that have released in the past 10 years or so... although, I got away from close-up magic and into stage/platform for a while and I suppose that's why I didn't pursue any study of bill magic during that period of my magical journey.

I'm mainly looking forward to "Dr. Fun". But I mean . . . it's like he's taken all his best old stuff (I don't think it would have been possible to take ALL of it) and improved it . . . and the great thing is it's not just stuff from his books . . . he's also updating stuff like Twilight Angels and Reality Twister that before, you had to purchase as separate effects . . . and even including the necessary props . . . I remember them saying from the beginning he wanted it to be all A+ material . . . and I think he's probably reached that goal.
I'm not sure I'll read about the secret "Easter eggs" because I think I'll have too much fun discovering them for myself. Three days for you lucky Astonishment Project folk . .. about another week for folks like me who in a moment of manic excitement, ordered it from a regular dealer. "The suspense is terrible . . . Hmm.. I really have no particular favorites but am looking forward to everything on TA. I'm going in with eyes closed and enjoy every last bit of it. But if you had to ask me and point a gun to my head, I'm looking forward to Leaf, Cheng's Change, and the TA pen (I love money magic).
Oh yeah, the dinner with Paul Harris is tonight for some of the winners. Hopefully, some news will be trickling in later today and tomorrow for the lucky few who got the seats. |

From reading Jason's review, it seemed like the set was going to include Paul's Reality Twister. Is this the case? Jason's description of the set also implied that the set would include the necessary props for the tricks showcased on the DVDs. I know the TA Pen is included, but are there additional items, w/ TA?

On the http://www.trueastonishments.com blog, Jason mentions he has two different handlings for 'Unshuffling Rebecca' that he may mention on the forum. Well, I am a big fan of this trick and if he reads this, I hope Jason will reveal what he has come up with for this at some stage...
