I too remember seeing Steve do this on the Magic Castle special and thinking, "Wow, this is hilarious!"
Years later I saw him do the unedited version with the "P" gag and almost peed MYSELF. I was also lucky enough to be in the show where Woodfield (from earlier posting) first performed the goose. We were in a show at Magicopolos called "Secrets" and I got to watch Steve teaching Woodfield all the nuances in delivery, misdirection and timing that are so well woven into the fabric of the routine. Every night when it came time for the goose I would be backstage. As I listened from the wings, night after night, every laugh came, and came loudly, with surgical precision. It kills! ' If comedy is all about timing, then the Mindreading Goose is a perfect lesson to study. I'm sure that anyone who gets this goose, will soon find golden eggs to follow. I cant wait to collect my first dozen! -Scott |

Steve Spill is a geyser of genius. Releasing The Mindreading Goose is a big deal, especially for those of us who call ourselves "comedy" magicians. I say that, because, sometimes unintentionally, I'm just a "magician."
It's going to take a lot of kids birthday parties before I'll be able to get one, but there's no doubt that it'll be worth it. |

Yes, it's a great routine indeed !
I saw it 10 years ago and I immediqtely fall in love with it. I tried to do the same with a puppet dragon I'm looking forward to buy the mind reading goose, I know Bob and Steve have made a good job on it.

Steven Spill's "Mind Reading Goose" is a stroke of genius that sends audiences into gales of laughter. I first saw this routine on the Magic Castle special in the eighties (it was one of the most memorable effects from the show) and enjoyed it again on Steve's excellent DVD that he released a few years back.
This is a gift to the magic community. -Wayne

I first saw Steve's Mind Reading Goose on his DVD "10 Years of Steve Spill" which is a great buy you can get from Steve himself. Having purchased from Bob Kohler before I am sure that what ever product they put out it will be nothing short of solid gold and worth any price to working performers.

I love the goose! I've seen a lot of Steve's routines, and I really like this one a lot. It's all kinds of fun. I whole heartedly recommend it. Guys, the price is dirt cheap. He should be selling this for one hell of a lot more. I'm going to be placing my order for it shortly. |

Since several have PMed /emailed, and I just answered this question for the umteenth time this week here at Magicopolis (for those who don’t know me check out http://www.magicopolis.com) I’m going to answer it once and for all here…
First, as anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m in my mid 50’s, have been a successful full-time perfomer all my life, and I definitely do not make my living selling magic tricks, or spend time making up routines specifically to sell to other magicians. Besides some “performance only” video, I’ve never shared much with the fraternity. Yeah, I did publish some tricks when I was a Genii coverboy back in 1991, Kevin Kames marketed my Eye-Popper, a couple little books in the 1970’s, but that’s about it. Everyone keeps asking the same question: Why now? Why are you offering one of your pet/signature/trademark/personal/reputation-making/etc… routines to other magicians? Over the years my Mindreading Goose has been copied, never exactly duplicated, because there is something special about the method that nobody knows… But imitators have copied the routine, claimed it as their own, booked shows because of it, and I’m not talking only about amateurs – some of these guys are pros - who have made money and reputations by ripping me off. One guy even put my Mindreading Goose (with an inferior method) on his own instructional DVD. The producer of that product didn’t do his homework and had to recall those DVDs. Since I’ve performed the Goose routine on various TV shows – dating back decades –those broadcasts have given the routine a legally enforceable copyright. I pay ASCAP to use copyrighted music in my shows, those who use my copyrighted magic in their shows should do the same. Now those who are sincerely interested can benefit from what has been called “…a unique, eccentric, and amazing piece of theater.“ Want to perform the Mindreading Goose? You should have the real work on the method, handling, routine, the highest quality props, and finest, clearest instruction possible. I have presented the Mindreading Goose thousands of times. Now it’s time to pass on what I have developed to you. That’s why I got together with Bob Kohler to create this opportunity. |

Well put, Steve.
It's rare that someone would be so generous to share this with his peers. During this holiday season, we should all be thankful that people like Steve are willing to share their gifts. You da' man Steve.... Ken |

I've got another rave review for The Goose. I worked at Magicopolis several years ago and I got to see Barry Woodfield perform this routine many times with Steve's direction. It was always a hillarious routine, and as many times as I saw it performed, I never got tired of watching it. It's a great routine.

What I find incredible, is that this wasn't created recently. Can you imagine the mind that thought this up back in the day?
Steve was a Café guest of honor a year ago and you get quite a bit of history of this fellow: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewf......=246&160
