That review was right oon the money. I got to agree with Rohmany when he says "...it's one of my all time favorite comedy mind reading routines I've ever seen."

So how's this for a perfect situation. Did the Goose last night for Kohler. Not my relatives but the other part of the family names that owns the plumbing company. Talk about the pee and #2 gag killing...

Report from The Tropicana Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Kozak Comedy Magic Show...

First I want to thank Steve for FINALLY releasing this routine, as I have stated in an earlier post I have "Coveted" this routine for years. Thanks also to Bob Kohler for Producing a Professional High Quality Product.

If you are having an issue with the price, let me help you in your decision...
How many Magicians spend upwards in the THOUSANDS for illusions that are over quicker than the Goose Routine, that are common, mundane, without routining and not very entertaining.

In this economy, with the difficulty in travel restrictions, considering the high entertainment factor of this routine and the caliber of the props produced by Kohler, I think this is the Best Bargain in Magic for the Price!

After my Goose landed here on the East Coast, I spent a month of Quality Time getting to know her Intimately, to see her Potential and what she is Capable of...

In my 32 years as a Pro, I have created my own things, redid Classics and have bought others creations, but always added my own touches. Rearranged and Interpreted like Sinatra would do with a song.

I would like to Share some of my ideas that I have added to The Goose as I try to be a Giver rather than a Taker at this stage of my life. The more I give the more things come to me...Try it...

I wanted The Goose to be an Event in the Show, have people talk about it afterwards and utilize it in Marketing, Promotion and Publicity. My goal was to expand on the Comedy and the Mystery of the Mind Reading.

I will not tell you my exact routining, but will share the core ideas with you and then you can make it yours to fit your personality.

#1) I am having success using Todd Karr's Mind Reading 101 to introduce The Goose's Ability's.
The gags on their own can be corny and hackish but by having The Goose do them they really seem to fly, pardon the pun...and they help to build up to the pee climax.

#2) After the pocket change prediction, I am using John Archer's Collard to "Name The Goose"
I have a small whicker basket on a table that I put the Goose in so she is upright and facing the audience
With a collar around her neck.

#3) After the collar bit, I then hang a Prediction in an Ostin Clip on her Beak, go into the audience for a Pocket Writing bit, returning to the stage with the spectator for the Reveal...…Powerful !!!!

#4) I have also done some Pre-Show work... Think Riggs and the Hornet...
I use some of that information and pre-write it on a page of the note pad to use just before the pocket change prediction so as not having to use the boon writer for a word or phrase.

#5) After the Ostin Clip reveal I take Goose in hand again this time putting a real marker in her beak and she Draws an Image that I have collected Pre-Show....Again Very Powerful !!!!

#6) I close it out using Molloy's Master Prediction, key is on the Goose's collar, story line is that The Goose is going to be flying South for the Winter after the Show....

With that ending, I'm having to drop Kevin Jame's Bowling Ball to snap them out of the Goose's Spell to bring them Back To Me!!!!

I hope this helps you, All the Best in Magic...
Sincerely , Kozak

Thanks Kozak for all the great ideas. I will definitely be making the trip to see you in Atlantic City. All of the great and innovative things you are doing with the Mindreading Goose sound awesome. How long does your routine run? Just curious. Very few on Earth have their own complete show available to the public on a weekly basis and hearing what you do with the Goose helps me see why you are in that rarified group. Congratulations on having your own show at the Tropicana and I hope to see you there this winter.

You have got to see Kozak do the Goose, it is an absolute showstopper. After the show the audience wants to get their pictures taken with Kozak AND the Goose, and the Goose signs autographs!

Let's get real. The Mindreading Goose is not a routine that was thrown together to sell to other magicians like almost every other release that has hit the market over this past year. This is the type of routine that pays bills and makes reputations for performers. If you are interested in this plot, you will find absolutely no better product. It’s a laugh a minute and totally amazing….or, whatever you want it to be. To the worker, this is money well spent. There is no better endorsement than the fact that guys like Kozak and David Williamson are featuring the Mindreading Goose in their shows.

Although I have appointed myself as an enthusiastic spokesman for the Mindreading Goose, nobody says it better than Paul Rohmany does in his blog. Here's the part that really hits home:

"What can I say about this routine other than it's one of my all time favorite comedy mind reading routines I've ever seen. Steve Spill has been at the top of his game for so long that he is an underground legend to all professional magicians. Out of all my reviews since I started this BLOG I have to say this is the BEST routine I've ever seen. The fact he is releasing this to the magic world is something very exciting. This routine comes from his act that has made him a huge name in the comedy magic industry. This is a riot from start to finish, with super strong magic. No matter what type of venue you work, from cabaret, stage, corporate to more intimate parties you can definitely add this routine to your act and get incredible reactions. This comes with all the props you will need and when I say it will be the talking point of your act, I'm not kidding around. This is extremely highly recommended for any serious performer who wants a reputation full comedy routine!!"

Paul Rohmany’s reviews always fairly describe an item and give his reasoning behind his opinion and always reflect a performer’s point of view from his years of performing on cruise ships. As an aside, even though I’m not a cruise guy I enjoyed reading his book Entertaining on a Cruise Ship. Good work on the book Paul and great review on the Mindreading Goose. If you are a regular reader of Rohmany’s blog reviews you know he always goes into minute detail and he never unconditionally says to just buy a particular item, except in this one case of his Mindreading Goose review when he says “Get yours today before they go off the market.”

I purchased a mind reading goose about a week or so ago and I really like the effect. My show travels in a enclosed trailer and I like my props in containers to keep them from getting damaged. I have tried every container at wal-mart and everywhere else trying to find something tall enough or wide enough to put the goose in. Can anybody recommend anything before I attempt to build something out of wood? Thanks

Well, it depends on how much you want to spend. One guy on this forum had a heavy fabric case made for his goose. I purchased a ready-made hard side carrying case from Case Design Corp. Here's a link:

Just saw the Kozak show and you should see it too. The Goose steals the show which means Koz steals it from himself since he and the Goose are inseperable. In this show the Mindreading Goose is an Atlantic City superstar.

I couldn't agree more. When I saw the Kozak show the audience went absolutely wild for the Goose.

In this months MUM the cover story is on Steve Spill and in it he says back in the eighties bookings came to him on the strength of the Goose alone. Now it's the 2000's and the same thing is happenng over and over for me. Thank you Kohler and Spill!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This routine pays bills and makes reputations.

Truthfully, I can't recall but I think it was in the $100-$120 range (I bought an off-the-rack case with no modifications).

If you'll call them they'll be happy to quote you a price. I recently sent them some specs for another case I want built, and I'm waiting for their quote.
