If it's tape or heat shrink it was put on way after. My eyes are shot tonight. Can't see anything. To many late hours. To keep with the flow I would think it was attached with a wax. Check with our historian...Bill??

It would seem that shellac makes perfect sense, Thomas; especially if he wanted to make a permanent change to his wand since it was being "retired".

For the repro I didn't think I'd glue it on but now thinking about it, that might actually be cool and give the magician something to comment on.

Ray and I were tossing some ideas around on this and, with your last post, Tabby, I had the following thought: have different options available.
- Wand alone - Wand with plexy stand - Wand with wood stand - Wand with note attached or separate My request to Ray was to have the wand with a wood stand, and I'm going to have a brass plate made with something like "Replica of wand used by Robert-Houdin" attached to the front of the stand. I would go with the note being separate for my display. Just a thought. :}> Rick

The wood stand is probably more pleasing especially with the way Ray finishes out hard wood. The plexy stand is kind of, what's the word I'm looking for, inappropriate might be it, but its the stand from the R-H Museum. The idea of a nice plaque is a good one. It would be a fun piece just to have sitting on your desk kind of like the way a pilot would have a small airplane or a ship captain a nice ship model. To me this is what the internet is all about. People from all over getting together and having some fun and making something good happen.

I like the wooden stand idea. Will make these however you want them. Rick, I have you down for a 13" wand. The standard size will be 14". How about you others? What length would you like? I do have an engraving machine from a jewelry shop with different fonts. Will need to pick up some brass plates and play with it to get the hang of it.

Tabman USA made many of what I called, Wall Wands, which were a wand mounted on a small mock up of a Mali covered Tabman Table (no foam) with a plaque and magic clubs etc would give them as awards. Must of made 50 of them while pushing them. That would be a good one to bring back especially since you have the engraver. That was the hassle for me, getting the plaques made and interfacing each time with yet a new and different employee at the local trophy shop. You have that part licked. They make a beautiful award. -=tabman

Ray, one addendum: put me down for a 13" wand, and also a 14" wand with the stand. I'll use the 13" wand for my Victorian act, and have the other at home on the shelf.

Maybe I'll get a chance to work on these this weekend after I get some tables out of the way. Tabby, thanks for the idea of the wall plaques. Years ago I made some covered in glass with a plaque saying in case of emergency break glass. I see that Steven's magic is selling something similar to this now. of course back then the wands I was using was just a painted dowel.

There is an off chance that the label was applied with mucilage.
I would prefer one of these without a label. After all, R-H didn't perform with it while it had a label on it.

For a decent set go to a music store look at the drumsticks. you can find different weights, thicknesses, and lenghts, cut the end off sand it down to make the cut end smooth, and take the logos off. and you are set.

That's a cool idea Ray and would probably work really strong on the street. Those hickory sticks would be tough to break. There are plenty of sticks available with the blunt end on both ends. You won't even have to cut it off.

My left thumb. I had to put three stitches in it once because I slipped!
