What do you all think about the new MUM layout? I think it is pretty good but I have only been a SAM member for a few months now and have only read 2 issues before this one.

I not only love the new layout but I like the increased emphasis on tricks and presentations. The Basic Training column is also great. If SAM and MUM are going to survive they need to remember that they serve amateurs as well as professional magicians. John Moehring did a great job bringing the old MUM into the modern age. I think that the new editor, Michael Close, will bring it to the next level-a unique magazine for working magicians of all skill levels and not a clone of Magic magazine. Thanks to John and good luck to Michael!

Thanks for the comment about Basic Training. I'm enjoying having the freedom to go into as much detail as I need to get the point across. I hope I can keep up the standard in the coming months.
Take care, Ian |

Just my $.02, but I really appreciated the Basic Training column as well. This issue is a great first step.

Yes the Basic Training section is great. I had just learned the Elmsley Count a few months ago so it was a nice review and helped fill in a lot of the little details. Thanks Ian for all your work on it.

Ian, super job, keep em coming. It was great to see the Ghost Count presented not only correctly, but in a very easy to understand presentation. Bravo Bravo my friend, see you in a few.

WOW, Mike's issues really sounds like it is well put together. As of 1/10/09 I still have yet to receive my copy of the January 09 M.U.M. I have been in contact with the National office and have left messages and NO ONE has gotten back with me as of yet. I left my last message on the 7TH and still I have not heard from anyone.

Greetings,
Rodney, I am certain that Manon Rodriguez, the National Administrator must be off on either vacation or a business trip of some sort. I too have left two messages as early as mid December and have not heard back from her and that is very unusual. Give it a couple of more days and if you don't hear from her by Wednesday or so, send an e-mail to Most Illustrious Bruce Kalver, the National President and I am sure he will respond to your questions. I'm hoping mine shows up soon. I sent an email the other day. We'll see what happens.

The USPS delivery of 2nd class postage was miserable during December. I just received my copy of Linking Ring, which usually arrived at the beginning of the month. The January M-U-M was delivered to the printer on the exact schedule that John Moehring had used; the crush of holiday mail and the lousy weather around the country really slowed things down.

Jskalon, I emailed our National Administrator and I was sent a copy of the
January 2009 M.U.M. I still have yet to receive my regularly mailed copy. And I received my January issue before I receive word back from the N.A. Manon, did email me to make sure that I received the copy that was sent from the S.A.M. Office. Rod
