Justin's comment above re; imaginary deck etc., is food for thought. Everybody should refrain from calling their tricks by the dealer name as it is just too easy for people with idle curiosity about how your tricks work to Google the item by name and find some geek on YouTube doing an exposure - either deliberately or through poor technique, or else they are led to a discussion here on the Café forum wherein the method is tipped. There is a thread elsewhere on this forum discussing this issue of laymen finding magic MO's on the internet and the need to watch what you say here.
Magicians of yesterday gave all of their illusions nonsensical names on their show programs that gave no indication of what the audience was going to see. Perhaps we should all follow their example in our own performances and make up our own names for our effects? |

I just listened to the Dan Sperry interview. Great job. It was very interesting to hear the behind the scenes info. Dan is a very entertaining guy. I wish that we would see more of Dan on TV. I look forward to see the new magic that Dan has been working on. I wish that they would have included more of Jason Byrne. He also has some great magic. I think they could do a better job of making the show flow better. It seems too choppy and the ending needs some work.

Don't forget that magicians do searches the same way laymen do. Remember when you first figured out that an ultra-mental deck was the same as an ID. Multiply that by millions of magicians and you get the idea. That's just the other side of the coin. Don't forget we are all beginners in some areas of magic. Even if you know everything there is to know now there's plenty of new stuff coming out all the time. Anything that would impede their search also impedes ours. It' a round world. |

Millions of magicians?
If you want to know of a thing - go ask your mentor. When you go online the world is reading and magic is a craft of SECRETS. Why give away the surprise and delight to millions for the sake of the convenience of a few lazy shoppers? Good riddance to all who somehow got the prop but no mentoring in its history or even its proper name. Beyond their venal uses as cash cows what good comes from having such people around?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

If you are ****ed at the www for letting out all our magic secrets then open your window and shout "I'm not going to take it anymore!" or start your own post, but please don't respond to mine. If you're insinuating that I'm advocating giving away secrets online then you should read my post again. My post was just addressing the way we comunicate today and the consequences. If you think that every magician in this world can give every prop they use their own name and not cause mass confusion then you are delusional. You simply do not understand language or communication. Every conversation whether face to face or online with have be pre-faced with a description of the trick or the common name that EVERYONE knows it by. That is the basis of language. People can't understand each other if they speak different languages. That is what you are advocating. I suggest you re-read both mine and Justin's post and give it a little more thought. If you can't grasp what they mean maybe you can ask YOUR mentor. Btw, If you are asking me if there are over a million magicians in this world the answer is yes. |

Buy John Lovick's book. It has everything you ever wanted to know about the BC and then some. And class, let's all be nice to one another. |

Now we'll just have to wait and see when they air so stay tuned...

And infact it would have been in switch if John Lovick had seen it before he finished his book. Keep watching masters of illusion! It's a cool show tonight! I'm totally biased to tonight episode. Cuz I'm on it but so is Zach Mueller a young guy from here in LA. He will blow you away! Take care! |

What was the deal with Jonathan Levit. Seeing him before he seemed to have a very nice personality. Was that some new character he was trying out. It didn't seem to be the right show for that piece. I hope the lady helping was a paid actor. A very creepy cringe inducing performance I thought.

OMG - I just realized too that Dan is in that avator. All that dark make-up really does blend in with that dress. I can't get used to all that make-up and hair but your Ivanish was really good.
I've been seeing Krystyn being on these shows, in Magic Live, World's greatest magic etc. Has she done anything original? I'm trying to understand all the hype. BTW - I'm the one holding cards in my avator. =) |
