I think the whole issue is about what you can afford. Jim has made plenty of props that have lasted many years with regular use. It's not like you use the Lightbulbs thru Girl twice and it will fall apart in your hands. I'm sure Jim still has many of the props he once used to perform, still in working order.
If you can afford to drop $7500.00 on your next illusion .. wonderful. That's the average cost of today's most popular illusions. Are you going tell me little Billy can afford something like that with his allowance?? You have to start somewhere?? Steve |

Knowing Bob personally and living 15 minutes from his house I have the following advice. Bob has good insight and advice for those looking to get into illusions. One kid wanted to by something big but Bob told him to work first on the skills first. I believe he offers very good customer service.
The downside is that he carries just a very few items that are not Klamm originals. The shop is very small. As an example he has talked about his sponge core rope before saying it is the best on the market for any magic tricks using rope. Well I think most people will say that may be for certain tricks but other rope works better for other tricks. It isn't long before he'll tell you that his is the best. But that being said it is still worth a call to get his opinion if you are considering an illusion and have questions. |

Jim Sommers is a very nice, smart man, he knows a lot about magic.I have Jim's European Asrah and Jim has reconditioned some old magic pieces that I have. I don't trust Klamm for a minute!

I've just been looking at the Klamm/Sommers model chair suspension as an addition to my family show. My budget was around $800 - $1000US, but that has to include shipping to Oz.
The Klamm model fits the bill nicely, but would love to know if anyone down under has one they would part with... M@ |

Call Hocus Pocus and spend the $1000 on that one. I had a Sommers it is OK but the one from H.P is the best I've seen so far.

If you are only floating kids, the Sommers one is perfect. Inexpensive, works great and gets a great reaction.

The Klamm is to precarious. Sometimes a child looks lighter than he or she actually is when you get them up there and then its too late. I use the the Hocus Pocus one now and can feel confident every time.

I have a question reguarding the jim sommers modern cabinet sold by klamm magic,
http://www.klamm-magic.com/cgi-bin/web_s......match=on I already have a modern cabinet but it is HUGE! and takes a lot of time just to break down and set back up. even when its broken down it takes up a lot of space. I was wondering if anyone has had any expiearance with this modern cabinet? or if there are any suggestions out there on a portable one. thanks, magic mike |

I just received my sword basket and table from Klamm-Magic and Jim Sommers. Both were very accommodating and easy to deal with. They willingly customized the design of the basket according to my specifications and the delivery time was excellent. I know this isn't the "top of the line" basket, but I'm not a full time touring pro. This is an illusion that may get worked 6 ir 8 times a year, and it packs extremely flat for transport. When you combine this level of service and the price I paid for the illusion, you can't help but be satisfied.
I can't speak for the design of any of their other illusions, but the sword basket, the chair suspension and my european asrah have proven to be exactly what I needed in my show. Kent

I have been using two of Jims' illusions for years. Light Fantastic and his Fire Cage. Both props have served me well and have held up under constant usage. The props are light weight, pack flat and work well.

Ok, my question is this, he has a version of Inturlude by Steinmyer on his sight called Tru and Tru. Is this not a knock off. I know a magician who bought an Interlude from a freind, and customized it. It no longer looks like Steinmyers creation, as it is his own adapatation. However is Klamm's not a blainent knock off?

Has anyone purchased the Klamm/Sommers Assistants Revenge? If so, I'm curious as to the quality of the construction and the set-up/tear-down time of the illusion. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there any other good, affordable builders of this illusion, please let me know. Thanks.
Kent

What I do not understand is that they sell blaneted knock offs, wihtout permison from Steinmyer or others, yet the IBM allows them to advertise in the linking ring, I guess the saying is true "money speak talks, and bull**** walks"
