Is the effect "Arrow Dynamic" by Phil Goldstein a mathematical trick ?

No. Just very cleverly thought out and constructed so that if you follow all the moves as instructed, your arrows always follow a pattern that points precisely to the chosen card. It's automatic.

An almost identical effect (but without the chip) is Werner Miller's "Olram Arrows" to be found on the "Tricks To Go Part 1" DVD produced by Aldo Colombini (2011). The routine no doubt appeared in print long before that. It's a good value DVD. I've used the routine, and liked it.
I do recall having "Arrow Dynamic" years back but must have disposed of it so I cannot compare both. Maybe I just didn't appreciate what I had at the time. My thought with Werner's was to make it up with cards half the size so it would take up less table space. Paul. |

The thing with Arrow Dynamic is that sometimes, depending on where the spectator cuts the cards, you could end up finding their card in as little as one arrow. That doesn't leave much of a buildup! Maven suggests quietly putting away the remaining cards so as not to reveal the arrows hidden on the other side, but shoot, why not snap your fingers over the remaining cards and quickly turn them over to have all the arrows magically appear as if that is what you had intended all the time?

Its interesting to try making this trick with more cards than the original.

It would be interesting for me to see Werner's version to see if it's interchangeable with the Arrow Dynamic set.

Had this been explained in any of his books please

And on my research, I came to know that, Werner Miller createda routine titled “Pointing the Way”andit was improvised by Max Maven as Arrow Dynamics.
A version of Werner Miller can be found as OLRAM ARROWS in Tricks to Go Vol 1 by Aldo
