Jack Carpenter was born and raised in Connecticut but has lived under the supervision, care and feeding of his wonderful wife JoAnne in the Seattle area for the last 20 years. Together they have four wonderful children who have magically produced a dozen grandchildren for them so that Jack never has to go far to have a “card selected.”

Performing and inventing card magic for over 30 years, Jack’s work first came to the attention of card enthusiasts with the publication of “Modus Operandi: The Card Magic of Jack Carpenter”, written by Stephen Hobbs and published by Hermetic Press in 1992. This was followed by “Expert’s Portfolio #1” in 1997, written by Jack Carpenter, (Forward by Darwin Ortiz). Both books are still available from various magic dealers, as well as two VHS tapes originally produced by A-1 Magic Media in 1998: “The Magic of Jack Carpenter, Vol. 1, Card Magic, and Vol. 2, Gambling routines” (currently owned by “Meir Yedid Magic.)

In addition to the limited edition manuscripts “Pasteboard Palette” (2006) and “Jack Carpenter’s Ultimate Dealing Demonstration” (2006) other published work include contributions to Harry Lorayne’s “Apocalypse”, (mid 1980’s), Stephen Hobbs’ “Labyrinth”, and “Magic.”

Currently available is the two volume DVD set, “Jack Carpenter's "An Evening with Jack: The Seattle Sessions - Night One" (the second volume, Night Two is slated to be released soon). Both DVDs are produced by Steve Brooks of “The Magic Bakery” and are available thru dealers around the globe.

Jack enjoys occasionally lecturing for magic clubs and conventions, and has lectured at the "Magic Castle” in Hollywood, as well as Las Vegas, Seattle, Sacramento, Dallas, Detroit, and Buffalo. Next stop, the “GGG” in San Francisco!

Even more, Jack Carpenter enjoys staying up late into the night, solving card problems, and occasionally succeeding. But “ultimately”, he states; “The greatest reward I’ve received in magic is the camaraderie and care of the many friends and colleagues who, for whatever reason, are just as mad about this art we’ve chosen as I am”.
