I have a mini-rant concerning my "Impulse Change" for you:
I want to mention that some of the confusion concerning "The Impulse Change" must be no doubt in part due to it's proliferation on YouTube. I've seen quite a few good handlings of it (No proper credit, or a wrong credit- even saw one posting that said it was a change of Justin Miller!), as well as some monstrosities. Even tutorials for the move are on Youtube- be careful with those- none of them right so far, usually teenagers, even though some of them manage to make it look pretty good. The most common mistake I see is placing the double in the deck initially angled. (Instead of doing it as instructed in Expert's Portfolio #1, or the A-1 tapes, and the new DVD.) Also, the move was featured in the titles for the movie "Shade" and it looks pretty good. (Don't know which of the guys performed it.) But the improper set up was used. When you do that, it tends to make it look like your "babying" the card, instead of being free and easy by using the automatic one-handed angling. Well, got that little tirade off my chest. . . -Jack |
