As writer of several of Dave's books, I would like to weigh in with a couple of recommendations for those beginners in coin magic that have serious intentions of doing the work necessary to become really effective magicians with coins.

Most highly recommended is Sound Routines... and a Rattle Gimmick to go with it. The instructions do go into sufficient detail that all the sleights are possible without a lot of previous experience. Some experience will help, of course.

Without the experience some real attention to detail in the text will be necessary. The work is well worth it, however, as so many of Dave's other routines make use of the same moves, and the Rattle Gimmick.

In addition, these routines do not require a table... so they play in any situation. Beyond that book, I would suggest Heavy Work Made Easy and The Two Coin Gimmick book. Both give great insight to Dave's working philosophy and provide maximum magic for work invested.
