Also Scarne on Magic Tricks--great collection of easy magic with everyday objects--no cards!

I think the Semi-Automatic Card Tricks series by Steve Beam is under-rated--no one ever talks about those books here. There are some incredible gems "hidden" in those books, and the patter lines alone are worth their weight in gold.

Fetcher - The Magic of Eddie Fetcher

Secrets of an Escomotuer by Harry Riser(sp?)

Both are great books that people pass over and can be had at a very reasonable price. So, take advantage this fact and add 2 wonderful books to your collection.

All of the Rufus Steele books are overlooked and underrated, but "The Last Word on Cards" especially so.

When you think about the emphasis being place on DVDs these days, it seems pretty much like all books are being under rated.

Simon Says by Simon Lovell is a book I keep coming back to. You could build a career just on the routines in this book. But someone already has . . .

Gary Kurtz Leading with your head.***
Arturo Ascanio The Magic Of Ascanio Vol 1*****
Jim Buffaloe: Buffaloe'd: The Magic of Jim Buffaloe
Karl Fulves: The Magic Of Slydini... and More*** (this one specifically)
Lou Gallo: The Underground Man by Richard Kaufman and Mark Phillips
Jean Hugard: The Encyclopedia of Card Magic
Dariel Fitzkee: The Trick Brain*** and Magic by Misdirection
Kenton Knepper: Wonder Words 1*** & Rants Into Raves & Secrets of indirection & Miracles of suggestion. & Q book. & Creating Material and Making Your Performances Memorable
Steve Cohen: Win the Crowd.
Larry Hass: Transformations: Creating Magic Out of Tricks.
Jerry MacGregor: Real World Magic.***
Andrew J. Pinard: Serious Bizness. Incorporating Humor into your Performance
Woody Pittman: The Big Picture : Character development for magicians.
Quentin Reynolds: Perform like a pro (ok it's a DVD not a book, but it's way under rated).
Avo Stockman: Poetry reading
Richard Tennace: Acting for magicians

There are other books that I highly respect but that I think are receiving due credit like the Juan Tamariz books (The Magic Way & The 5 Points In Magic), the Darwin Ortiz books (Designing Miracles & Strong Magic) Pete McCabe (Scripting Magic) Henning Nelms (Magic and showmanship) Ken Weber (Maximum Entertainment) Derren Brown (Pure Effect & Absolute Magic) Jean Hugard (Royal Road To Card Magic & Expert Caard Technique) Richard Kaufman (Coin Magic) David Roth (Expert Coin Magic)...

Magic is not a performing art where people don't know how situations are reached, it's the art of showing parallel dimensions that can't be reached

Lawrence,

I've had the Lou Gallo book for years. I've never been able to get into this book. I pick it up every few years and I STILL can't get excited about it. What is it about this book that turns you on? Personally I think it's underrated for a reason, but I'd like to hear your view.
Thanks,
Ed

Not underrated in the sense that anyone thinks it's bad, but it's a book that I think is largely under the radar.
