I was told, kinda forced, into teaching my Sunday school class today. Well we got done with the lesson in record time then the wheels started turning. I pulled out 2 rubberbands and started talking about how praying links us to God, as I did CMH. I finished by saying how when we don't pray we can lose that link with God. It all related to the lesson and I hope I got the point across. It seemed to go over well although a few people started looking at me weird. I just wanted to tell every one this idea (don't know if it's been used much before).
Anyone else every come up with some thing on the spot like this?

Nice application!
I have been using a "Locked in Sin, and still burdened, even when forgiven" routine that plays out in showing the bands unlinked. I came up with it, one evening while sitting around with some young people at a local Christian Coffee House and talking about God and forgiveness. I was thinking about how sad it is that many of us keep beating ourselves up, and satan continues to accuse us, even when we are forgiven by God. And I went into the CMH to share my concerns, that we have to learn to let go of the guilt and shame, and grab onto Grace. I have continued to do it whenever the opportunity is available.. I really like your message too! Very good thinking. Nice work! BroDavid

Very nice work. I have never seen it done in this application, but it is a very nice idea. I have thought of things that use bigger more elaborate routines, but the smaller one's seem that they have just as big of an impact as the larger ones.

I like your quick thinking. That was real nice. It is amazing how God gives us a quick way to illustrate our point. Good listening my friend.
I usually say how we can be caught up in a tough situation and God can bring us through if we let him. Then follow up with the jumping rubber band from the first two fingers to the last two fingers. I use the one version with the extra band wraped around the fingers to give that more impossible feel in Mark Wilson's book. I show both sides and then make the fist and say how we can let God bring us through a tough situation in prayer. As I say prayer I making praying hands that of course completes the jump to show the band on the other two fingers. Some food for thought. |

Thanks everyone. I also see some nice ideas. It really is awesome how quick God can send you ideas and BANG just like that you know what to do.

God has taught me, that he is always, "In time" with whatever we "really need". (as opposed to want)
But we mortals try to put him in a box and say God, I need you to do this by "Insert the date and time". And we are disappointed when He doesn't. We find ourselves saying He wasn't "On Time." But if it will Glorify Him, and if that is our need, He will serve our need. In His Time. Not On Tme, but in His time! And He is always "In Time". So if it is an effect that will give you the opening to talk to someone about the Good News, or just a word to move you to the right or left of trouble, if we listen and are prepared to follow His lead, in faith, He will provide, In Time for our need. But think how many times (I know I can count far too many in my life) that His help goes unused because we just didn't listen, and the moment of opportunity passed. Thanks gocall911 for listening to His leading and doing what was needed. Who knows the impact that simple effect will have on one of those in the class? It just may be the difference! And that is REAL MAGIC, a soul saved! BroDavid
