Have you found "Real Magic" or something you'd consider Paranormal?

This is a very deep question.
Of course, I am interested in the study of the paranormal because of a deep childhood desire to find REAL magic. Hence the name of my first website " http://www.Realmagic.org" . I am a true skeptic in the sense that I investigate paranormal events with an open mind. I am neither trying to prove or deny what happened. I am just trying to figure out what caused the phenomena that was observed. So far in my studies I can tell you how the tables levitated, how the words appeared on slates and what carried the poison into the mouthes of the sucking doctor healers. And I can explain all of these without resorting to a paranormal explanation. However, if there was a paranormal explanation, I would be happy to report it. And if I never found a method of deception I would be happy to report that. I do have one such story Just a few months ago I was in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania giving a presentation at their annual music fest. While there I took my own trip, escorted by a local state senator, to photograph the old Bethlehem steel mills. From these mills came the Panama Canal gates, the Brooklyn bridge, the sears tower and much of the armor that helped us win World War II. 30,000 people a day used to work in these factories. Some for generations. I met a lot of people who said that they worked the factory for 35 to 40 years, as did their fathers and grandfathers. The mill has been sitting empty for over 10 years. Inside, it was like… everyone was told to go home and the fence was put up right around it. Barbed wire, electric current, and a constant staff of perimeter patrol. There were still shoes in the lockers, gloves on counters, and dirty magazines in the restrooms Only a few people had been inside since the doors closed. And now they are turning it into a casino. Before the security came around to let us in, I decided to take a look around the perimeter and take some pictures. Everyone I was with stayed back with the car. As I stood in the back by a train and machine shop 2, looking up at the blast furnaces that filled the sky, I felt a tingling sensation and heard… in a thick Pennsylvania Dutch accent, “Have a good look around”. I slowly looked around; there was no one there. The ground was covered with thick gravel and I would have heard someone approach or leave. The roof was steel and rusted. I waited or a sound. I walked around the train. No one was there, above, below, or inside. I looked atop the building and then came back around to look in the windows. Empty. (pause) I am a member of the James Randi Skeptic society. I am a trained anthropologist. I read the skeptical inquirer and I have debunked spiritualists and haunting from Chicago to New Orleans. The voice was right next to my ear and pleasant as can be. I walked back towards the car and the senator was looking up at the building with glossy eyes and said simply, “It’s a little spooky, isn’t it?” Confirming that no one had yet arrived on the only road in or out of the property, I took him through the overgrowth to where I heard the voice. It was 10 am. Full daylight. There was no one there. On the ground there were five iron railroad spikes. I took one as did he. They were not in any of my pictures from before. We walked around the train again . Inside it was like Pompeii. Everything frozen in one moment. ........................................................ At least that's how I tell the story when I perform with spirit slates! Did I grab you! Good. -Paul Draper |
