Question about travel with the RFR. Traveling, would you all recommend checking my RFR in or can I get past security with it on me as a carry-on? Alex I've made over a dozen flights with the RFR in hand luggage without any problem at all, though none have been in the US (all ex Heathrow to Europe or the Far East). People also worry about PK rings and I have never ever been questioned on that either. I've had an airport security girl almost jump out of her skin when she spotted a thumb tip on a secondary check, though. Tony PS, Dave's service is exceptional! |

I have a question about presentation. Perhaps some of you may help me...
I've been using Gaeton Bloom's version for probably 20 years ever since all of the Various versions of ring flights I've used with built-in reels have failed........and I simply don't want to use props that are unreliable. I need a totally reliable prop...and if RFR's reliability is absolutely there AND it's presentation capabilities are that much stronger than the (standard per instructions) presentation that I've been doing with the Gaeton Bloom version.......maybe I should try it? A large part of the reason I'm asking for advice is that I'm going to be doing more magic with finger rings. Any advice would be appreciated..... Thank you. |

Hang in there Rainboguy each day it gets a bit closer.lol
I am combining mine with Ring leader and Nest of wallets. 1st,Ring leader with spectators ring. 2nd, RFR. 3rd,Nest of wallets, man this is going to kill. After going through two departures,I am now use to the carbiner style clip. What style clip do you like and why?----------A question for everybody.

I have placed some heat shrink tubing on the carabiner clip,1-to help with noise
2-to help protect the borrowed rings.

One point I would like to ask about:
For those of you who have this is your thread threaded through two keyholes like mine is? The reason I ask is that it seems to hang up on occasion and I just wonder if that's my handling or is it normal to have the reel thread going out through two keyholes with the lobster clip outside? |

Rainboguy,
I asked Dave the same question when I got mine. It goes through two holes intentionally. It allows the "locking feature" too work more securely and better hides the binding at the end of the string. Wen you get used to pulling it out a at the proper angle it does not bind. Otherwise it works just as we'll with one hole I believe. |

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I really didn't like it at all.
I used it in performance a few times in the lead up to Christmas and although nobody called me on it I felt very restricted with my movements. I'm quite an animated performer, even close-up, and there are points in the RFR routine that felt very un-natural. Previous to this I tried The Regal Ring Chain and Pro Flite. Both I prefer over RFR. I also tried the new ring to neck chain (I forget what its called), and this was nice but the reset wasn't that great. So interestingly enough I now use Gaetan Bloom's version and of all of those I've tried this is now my favourite. It gives far more scope for concentrating on your performance, has nothing that will break or go wrong, I picked mine up for £10 compared to RFR costing £112 and I think the magic is stronger with Gaetan's. In a nutshell, if you like gadgets RFR is cool. But for me there are better options for ring flight.

Ive been using it over a year now, and I think it's the best made by far. Outstanding quality here.
As far as the classic versions , let's be real, I bought my first one in the 70s and even then, no one I even met had their keys in one of those old key wallets. I actually made my own using the gimmick from a classic Ring flight putting it in a stuffed animal keychain. I used that to great effect for years, even thought about marketing it. Now I have this, and it's as good as it gets. I actually giggle when I see a performer using the old key pouch. It's 2013, hello |
