The days of lighting up your thumbs is over. Time to use them in a different way. One way is explored in my "Christmas Lights From Mouth" in The Wizards' Journal #19 on my site. The Christmas Tree lights are tiny LED lights, red, yellow, green and blue. You apparently pluck each differently colored light from the tree one by one and put them in your mouth. They see the light on the tree, then they see it in your fingertips going into your mouth. The finale is when you produce the string of LED Christmas Lights from your mouth - no, REALLY from your mouth. Use the D'Lites as magic gimmicks to accomplish some other magic effect, not as the main feature in itself, and you leave the teens in the dust.

You should be able to walk into a florist shop, pick up any rose and make it light up with a regular D'Lite. Tell the florist I sent you and made you do it.

There are some neat ideas about combining D'Lite with other effects in this thread. I'm putting my thinking cap on now.

My final rput9ne this Wednesday will be as follows (and it is exactly 3 minutes and 20 seconds):
Start by pattering about lights and darkness...finish by turning around with back to the audience and saying "where there is light, even the smallest speck, darkness ceases to exist!". Then (choreographed to music from Opus One Productions) proceed to produce light, throw it from hand to hand, etc. After a minute or so, I will produce the lights and place them in the "Bag-O-Lites" gimmick. After I blow them out, I will wander the stage as if looking for the light. My light/sound man will flash a red laser on the backdrop as I look for the light. As the music comes to a crashing end, I will produce red throw coils from ach hand...hopefully, to thunderous applause! Thoughts? PM me!

Ive used D'lites to perform a cups and balls routine...of course the really cool magicians groan in disapproval but it has been the catalyst for more than a gig or two.

I have an idea for an app than would start with the screen all one color (customizable to your D'lites) where you could produce your light from and then turn to a black screen where you could store lights that you have produced through your routine.

I really like the routine "Rocco" uses where he grabs a few lights form the air and puts them into his hand, then from that hand, he produces a light bulb, then grab another light from the air, and the bulb lights up. It's really surprising when the light bulb appears.

Looking for objects that flash when you touch them. Right now I use those shoes in a pretty cool little routine. By grabbing the shoes it activates the little red lights. Throwing the lights on and off them is very fun and visual. What are some other sources for things that light up (red) when touched?

I have been working on a D-lights routine combined with ventriloquism. I am not good enough at ventriloquism to perform yet, but I'm still working on it.
Reality is a real killjoy.
