Hello Guy,
I'm glad to see you here. I'd like to hear your advice on how to develop as a performer. What books, if any, would you recommend? I'm not asking about what kinds of effects to learn. I'd like to know how one can develop stage presence. Do you recommend acting classes? What separates a so-so performer from a performer who can really hold an audience's attention? Thanks, Mark |

Guy - taking Ba Ba's question a step further - As an accomplished performer, how would you describe your own character on stage?

Hi there guys and thanks for a great question.
As a performer learning everything you know on stage art is for your benefit... Acting classes are great way to express yourself and be open for other ways to perform... or even to feel more open and less stressed... mime lessons... even dancing could help - depend on you. Books will recommend first of all: MAXIMUM ENTERTAINMENT by Ken Weber - by far one of the most important books in the field! you can get it on our website: http://www.pro-magic.com or any other dealer of your choice. Another book - will advise: 5 points in magic by Juan Tamariz - great way to structure a show. Also will recommend a seminar by Julian Chagrin - he was just here in Miami doing a seminar about mime and gags.. as a comedian. It was a blast - I know Julian for years he directed me in the past and we are good friends. One day if you see him lecturing in your area - jump on it! As to me I am just a normal person who learn the human mind... and like to play with it... hope that helps! JL |
