Bill,
Please accept my apologies for not responding sooner. I have not been on the Café for a few days. The only dates when the Gustafsons will be doing "The Amazing World of Magic" Show at the Bristol Riverside Theatre are those I mentioned above from June 30, 2009, through July 5, 2009. Sorry about that! Peter Posted: Jul 8, 2009 10:04pm I had the great pleasure of seeing this show on July 3, 2009. It was simply fantastic! I can't wait to see the Gustafsons perform "Magic By Candlelight" at the SAM Convention in Buffalo later this month. |

I like John Kaplan handling of this very much... He needs to add more to his site tho would like to know what you get for the 29.00 bucks for his routine.
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

Aceofharts I ordered Kaplan`s routine.
Hi Bojan, Many thanks for your order, received. The Killer Cut promo was recently posted online, in anticipation of product which is currently being packaged. My supplier tells me this should be ready to ship 1 - 2 weeks. So, my apologies for the delay and rest assured that as soon as product is ready, it will be shipped in accordance with your shipping request Thanks for your patience, I'm sure that you will love this effect and performing it ... it's part of practically every show that I do and has a devastating effect on audiences, both young and old! There is a cut and restored silk effect on youtube where the silk is placed into a "tube" made from newspaper and then cut and restored. You can view it at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18MU6vSR230 The method is possibly the same as the one marketed back in the 70's or 80's with a black sheet of construction paper. As I recall, in the marketed version, you stuff the silk in one end and by blowing through that end, it looks like the other end of the silk is blown hard enough to appear out the other end of the paper. ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Thanks Amado. Effect on youtube you are talking about was uploaded by me when JNeal started this topic. That clip is from 1973.

Just ordered this
Although the Phoa Yan Tong (spelling?) cut and restored silk is argueably cleaner I like the look of this version precisely because there's more going on in it. I think it'll give me more to work with in scripting a routine. The reusable factor is a huge plus for me too. In fact huger than huge. Looking forward to playing with this and hopefully putting it into the act at some point in the near future. Neal

Anyone want to trade DVDs, I want Kaplin's killer cut, I sent my money to someone here in UK, and they say they never received it, so I lost out on that deal. I have some DVDs to trade.

The effect Dick presented was known as the "Snip-Snap Silk". Very effective, I don't think the paper restoration is neccesary. By the way, I count Dick as my mentor in magic and learned a world of magic from that man. Truly a class act!!!

I don't believe Sni Snap Silk is available any longer, Tannen Magic sold back in the 1960's. The newspaper version called "Killer Cut" is available from John Kaplan.
Wally, I know you like 2nd hand items, so put a request in the Let's Make a Deal section. |

Denny and Lee Magic advertise "The Original Rice Snip-A-Silk" at
http://dennymagic.com/store/original-rice-snip-a-silk.html I also recall a version with a black plastic tube that was the same basic effect. The tube was two pieces that sort of nested together to make one long tube. A silk is threaded through the two tubes. Then you cut through the two tubes (and apparently the silk) and hold them apart. Then reassemble the two tube halfs and pull the restored silk out. I couldn't find any reference for that on the web, though. I agree, the Gustafson handling and methods (Based on the original Japanese method) is the best method extant. Someday, I'll put my reworking of it out in either a book or DVD. Sorry I can't be of further help...

JNeal )it would be just great! But is it possible to get a paid lesson you before? In any case, thank you! We look forward to this great effect!
Such companies as Sansm*nds issue garbage every week. Today very few people think of classical effects. And it is sad! |
