I have had a Café membership for a few years but really only became active about this time last year. Now I remember when going inot my PMS I could access old ones in the inbox but also the sent box as well. I for example would be able to go in and see the messages I sent about four months ago. This was helpful because sometimes I would want to contact a member I had a previous discussion with and sometimes I wouldn;t remember their screen name. Anyways I was speaking to a member about an ambitious card routine about five months ago and wanted to speak to them about something else. Anyways I knew I had a PM to them in my sent box. I go and look at my sent box and there are only 5 PMs going back to may 27th. I know there were a lot more then that. I then ivestigate a little further and realize there are only 19 in my inbox going back to may 19th. Has there been some sort of change lately to the Café where it deletes PMs after a certain amount of time unless you put them in your save box? I used to use my save box to save ones I would always want to reference and my sent box and inbox I would delete the ones I knew I would never need again or the junk PMS but would keep it pretty full in case I needed to reference one later down the line. I would sometimes get a messagesaying it was full and I needed to delete some which I would do but I was always able to see the old PMs I decided to keep. So is there some sort of new feature that deletes PMs after a certain amount of time unless you saved them, is there an error with my account, or am I going batty?
Thanks Chris Hrusa

It's not new, it was built into the PM system right from the off.
"ALL PM Topics will be deleted automatically after 60 days of the date of the last message in the topic (includes Staff messages). This includes any topics moved to the Savebox. It is the member's responsibility to save or print any important information prior to its automatic or untimely deletion. The Magic Café cannot be held responsible for lost information, either by automatic deletion or system error." http://themagiccafe.com/forums/pm_faq.php#limits |

What's the best way to save a PM thread?

I don't know if it's "best", but you can open the PM thread in your browser, then use the "File >> Save As..." menu to save the page to your hard drive. That will preserve the thread for you for future reference.

Chris, note that Mary pointed out the 60 days if from the date of the last message in the string, not when the PM first began. Since the deletion is programmed into the Café scripts, it would not be different for you than any other member.
