In Art of Astonishment 1 he does give a way to "restore" the last piece. The idea is there but you cannot hand out the card for them to see after you do it.

...perhaps fold the card in quarters, attach the last piece with a paperclip and go Jay Sankeys way via paperclipped so you can leave the restored card with the spectator as a souvenir.

I HIGHLY recommend you to purchase 'Fusion', by Sean Fields.
The booklet gives you great insight on how to deal with this issue, since his restoration follows pretty much the same fashion as Harris' one. I'd give you such advice, but it'd be impossible to cover everything up without giving away theprecious information you'll get on it. Definitely worth the price, if no for the trick itself, but for the great tips it gives to you on the involved psychology. |

Fusion is semi-impromptu. Doesn't uses gimmicks, but only a little extra something that you can find basically anywhere.

I have always thought that Tommy WOnder's 'gag' finish for this trick was the best solution. You can find it on his lecture DVD - taken at the British Close Up SYmposium 1991.

I second magicbern...
Tommy Wonder's finish for the effect is great... Strongly recommand everyone to look into it. |

The best finale, IMHO, is David Williamson's Steampressed. The performer, after restoring the card, brings it to the top of the deck to flatten the creases, top changes it for a duplicate that he places on to the table covering it with one his hand. Now pressing down with his palm the performer makes the noise of steam being sent on to the card, raises his hand and gives the card without creases to the spectator as a souvenir.

I have never cared for the routines with the "full" restoration that removes the creases and the signature at the end. It just leaves one explanation--the correct one: more than one card was used. I like leaving the corner "receipt" unrestored, and I cover it with just a bit of patter.
I begin by using Wonder's premise of a card trick with less than one card. Then at the end I say, "Now, you may be wondering if I'm going to fuse that last piece to the card. The answer is no, and I'll tell you why. A couple years down the road, if you come across this card and this corner, you will instantly remember this magical happening. But if you came across a complete, pristine card, you'd probably just think that a card had somehow dropped out of a deck at some point, and you'd likely throw it away. Left in this condition, you'll always remember 'The Card Trick with Less than One Card!'" BTW, I typically do either JC's original version or my own routine in my upcoming book "A Little Something."

Or like in the T&R project by Huron Low, the last piece you can make it blue. try to restore the piece and say "Oh I see why it doesn't restore" it doesn't have the same color. (reveal to show that it is the opposite color. Great Great love it .

I've had the writing done for a while now, but still need to shoot the photos. I hope to have it out by Halloween.
