The Hollywood Magic shop on Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood is locked and they aren't answering their phone. Anyone know what's going on?

There was some internal disagreements among the family members who own Hollywood Magic. All parties want to see it continue, and it may be a short while before it reopens. It is hoped that this will before the entire Halloween season is lost.

I'll just observe that there is a comment at the Genii forum that there was a dispute between owners (brother and sister?) that took place at the shop, police were involved, and that the place had the look of a crime scene on the day that the disagreement took place. Can you shed any light on the above?

Wow - I was just there two weeks ago, hope they sort it out - they've been there forever, and carry a nicer selection of books, and specialty items that you otherwise would be forced to go online for.

In the absence of the manager/ brother, she dismissed the employees. Although it may have looked like a crime scene, it was merely an attempt to take possession of certain items of value. From my current understanding, there is a bunch of legal actions (and countersuits) that must be addressed in the court system. I imagine the shop will remain closed until such time.

"..it was merely an attempt to take possession of certain items of value." Who knew a bunch of TTs and invisible decks could be so valuable to a manager/brother's sister.

LOL!
I had the great fortune to see what was in the vast storerooms of that building. One room upstairs had hundreds of rare and out of print books as well as collectible props from Viking, Milson-Worth, Johnson, and many others. Greg had intended (and may do so yet) to make one of the display windows a mini-museum of rare props. They also had many authentic masks and collectibles from the first STAR WARs films..

Went by there last Saturday the 25th and of course it was still closed.
I spoke with many nearby merchants and the simply could not believe that they would close up shop so close to Halloween!!! They told me that this is one of the most profitable times of the year for Hollywood Blvd. businesses! Someone sure made a bad business call!

You would think that they would put aside their problems until after the holiday rush. Whatever the problem, can it really be worse than not making any money during the busiest month of the year?

Yup! One should NEVER mix business & family, or you are just asking for it!
