But if you memorize the BCS (Richard Osterlind is proposing this in his "Mysteries") you can do all stack independent routines you can do with any memorized deck. And that's a lot! Jan

That includes thousands of effects in the literature. There are some exceptions that depend on the repeating nature of values and suits in the Si Stebbins, but that is a minority. All of that without having to memorize anything. Richard |

David,
Those effects are spread out all over the literature. Annemann was quite fond of stacked deck effects and many can be found in the Jinx. Standard card works like Hugard's Encyclopedia of Card Magic contain many. Greater Magic and so many others have effects. And you have to use your imagination. Any effect that tells you to force a card (if that card can be any card) or one that tells you to control a card to learn it, can be done instead with a stack. But there is more to it that just that. You can really increase the effect. Let me give an example. For the standard Mental Epic effect, most instructions tell you to force a card for the final revelation. That's great if you can do a really convincing force or else use a deck that is a mechanical one like a one-way forcing deck. But that can be suspect. With a stacked deck you can really give a person a free choice while the deck is in their hands (a strong point little understood by some) and thus make that third revelation as strong as the other two. Thanks for your advice. I will look up in the books I have home. And think if that trick can be done with a stack and then think again.

To Richard,
I had a great time at your shoot, thank you. And I now have the DVDs (Corinda's 13 Steps.) I've lived with that book much of my life and I have to say that you and Jim and Louis did a great job of bringing the contents to life. Congratulations, it's a great set of DVDs. Dennis Loomis
