To Frankie_D,
I certainly concur with you and Tommy Wonder's brilliance generaly and the effectiveness of his simple and bold deck switch. In his recently released set of 2 DVD's, Mike Close does a routine incorporating the Wonder Deck Switch. I was there for the shoot, and even though I'm familiar with it, it flew right by me. That said, one must understand that Deck Switches are situational and you must ask yourself what effects you will be doing just before and just after a deck switch. You must also assess your skills and your performing style. Then, you can pick the proper switch. It's wise to know as much as possible about deck switches so that you have a wide variety of them to choose from. Dennis Loomis

Look at R. Giobbi's Card College series. For example, he has in Volume IV several deck switches. It starts on Page 868. I am sure there may be other deck switches in his other books but not sure.
In Vol, IV, he not only talks about deck switches, he give a few few tricks that you may find useful. As Dennis Loomis points out, the deck switches are situational. Does not hurt to have a couple of good ones mastered just in case the opportunity comes up. |

As mentioned many times, one of my favorite deck switches can be found for free on Simon Aronson's website. It's actually a deck switch disguised as a trick. The only problem is that the effect is so strong it overshadows whatever necessitated the deck switch in the first place!

The Mike Close handling of the Tommy Wonder deck switch is on Vol 1 or his new 2 DVD set, Devious. He uses it to get the Aronson Stack in play before going into his wonderful routine: The Luckiest Cards in Las Vegas:
http://loomismagic.com/item29552.htm What I like about this deck switch is that it's good, and easy to do. Assuming that you wear a watch and have a coat or jacket on, you can do it at any time. This set of DVDs is a great new resource for memorized deck workers. I guarantee you that you will learn a great deal about memdeck work. I'll post a full review on my site fairly soon, but for now I give this six stars (... out of five.) Dennis Loomis

I agree, I enjoyed this DVD set more than most. Lots of great tips - I especially liked his suggestions for getting to know a memorized stack better (for those that already know the stack fairly well).
