I was just searching the forum for interesting stuff when I came across this thread.
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......start=30 The thread is mainly about instructions on how to do the trick where you slap the top of a filled bottle to make the top break off. I tried it and was amazed that it actually worked. So.. I would like to ask if anyone here got some ideas for a good presentation that would make it seem like magic rather then a stunt. Maybe some motivations for hitting the bottle, good places you can do it, combinations with other effects etc. To be totally ungimmiced, impromptu etc it's a great effect, but since it's a "bar stunt" it hasn't really been touched by the creativity of the magic community. the trick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-hBMyaigqI Time to brainstorm! |

Dunno about presentation, but it reminds me of something... my friend says that, as a child, he used to part-fill an old-style glass milk bottle with sand & grit, and painstakingly swill it around for hours, thereby weakening the glass base by erosion. Slapping the mouth of the bottle caused the base to fly off. So it seems pretty much any glass bottle could be so weakened.
A bit labour intensive IMHO, but whatever floats your boat, I guess! Perhaps one could pay a youngster with a high boredom threshold to put the gaff in. Child labour ftw |
