"No Freakin' Way" now available in the App Store
Freak people out every time! Someone thinks of "Any Card" in the deck. Your iPhone scans their finger and runs through the deck finding the card they were thinking of. No voice activation, they do not have to name a card out loud. They could write down a card on paper or pull out any card from a real deck of cards with everything in their hands, and it really can be ANY card. What makes "No Freakin' Way" the most amazing and deceptive iPhone card trick on the market? Unlike ALL others . . . 1. Everything is done openly, right in front of the audience. 2. There's nothing on the screen to hide -- from even the most observant viewer. 3. A simple swipe and all the dirty work is done without the audience suspecting, let alone detecting anything. 4. The magic happens with your iPhone in the spectator's hand. Anyone who experiences this miracle will shriek, "NO FREAKIN' WAY!!!" This was my first app rejected originally rejected back in June. In September Theory 11 was able to get their app released using a similar process thanks to the efforts of Chris Kenner. Penn and Teller and Greg Rostami followed releasing apps which also included a similar method. So finally I have re-submitted my app, got it approved and it is now available in the App store. http://www.mojosoftwareonline.com |

This combined with a memorized deck makes it a small miracle. Have the spectator pull a card and make clear you do not want to look at the card. Ask the spectator to look at the card and concentrate on it. Then let them put their finger on the iphone for the scan. Ask to see the pulled card and shake your head in unbelief. Wow!

Thanks Poesjenel, Nick Lewin had also suggested using a stacked deck, even si-stebbins works great and adds a lot to the effect although I will say most often I perform it without a deck just because I am too lazy to carry around a deck

I always liked tricks where the performer "can't belief his own eyes". It gives the impression to the spectator that there is an outcome the magician did not expect. The fact that the outcome seems incomprehensible to the performer enforces the effect a lot and kind of takes the attention away from the Iphone.
You did a great job Carl. Thank you very much. |

My "No Freakin' Way" iPhone App update has just been approved. You can now customize the screens with your own screenshots! Available now on iTunes.

Hi,
I have just bought this and I do like it. Another trick I have uses a simular method. However in their one the screen does actually move when you are swiping so it looks just like the normal home screen in action. It would be nice to see this in No Freakin' way in the next upgrade. Also what would be cool is a scanner animation where the green scanner line moves down the screen and back up. A simular animation can be seen in the app figure print scanner (which is a joke). Overall I like it Glenn |

Thanks Glenn,
I like the idea of moving the scanner green line up and down and will do that. I have tried using the moving screen but with all the buttons I have on the screens I have not been able to get the amount of control I want using 3 screens of action. The other apps that I have seen do this only use one or two screens of action but I like the deceptiveness of the 3 screens and everything done in the open, no secret pressing of buttons. That being said I think with OS4 the new screen appearance will make my screens look even better because just the icons scroll across while the background stays still. It should make the illusion created with NFW look even better! Thanks! |

I will have to check this one out! I'm starting to get a liking for iPhone magic apps - especially if they save you having to carry a deck around...

A marked deck of cards and no freaking way... this rocks.
I created a fake icon and a fake name for no freaking way on the springboard, so nobody will figure out the name of the app. |

Carl Andrews,
This is a great App and I would love to start using it. However, I really dislike the screen that says "No Freaking Way!". I was dissapointed to find that I can change every screen accept that one. I really don't want my audience to know I am using a magic App that they can buy on Itunes. Heck they could look it up right after I show the trick if they want. I'd prefer people to think I was using a solitaire game or that I simply have a program that simulates a deck. In truth I also just don't care for the name. I know it is not an explitive but it still represents one. It just isn't me. |

Mike, As I told you, for a developer is it all about sales. I would say that almost every time someone performs NFW for an iPhone user, they also buy the App and that is what it is all about. Sorry!

You're shortchanging your customers then.
When you supply magic utilites you can't expect them to advertise that they are doing a trick that any one can buy. Magic doens't work that way. My Invisible Deck doesn't say "Invisible Deck" on the box. My half dollar doesn't say "Magic Coin" on it. If your trick is good the word will spread the way all magic is spread. Magician's will share with others who have an interest in performing. It will be discuussed on magic forums. Yes this gives the secret away a bit but not right AT the performance. (I respect Carl Andrews for responding to my PM and post here. I strongly disagree with his philosophy as far as selling magic utilities). |

Let me say that this is a great App and Carl Andrews answered my post in an honest and respectful way. An easy solution for this issue would be for him to offer a pro version that has a stealth mode that blanks that one screen or maybe gives it a generic name. (Sort of the way another well known APP disguises itself as a drawing program).
I would be the first to spend an extra buck or three on the pro version. I love the dramatic way this App reveals the card. I think I could come up with a variety of cool ways to use it. I know it's not easy being a developer. If Carl takes up my suggestion he will get emails from people angry at him for selling them an App and then trying to up sell them to the pro version. Still I think this is the better way to go. I just purchased another App that let's you upgrade to a Pro version. I wasn't too thrilled with the pro version but heck it's only a few bucks so no big deal. Carl, give some thought to my Pro Upgrade version. You could bury it in the instructions and only point out to the few people who like me who need a more professional App. I'm fine with people sharing it around the water cooler. It's a big world and I don't think I will bump into those people often, |

Mike I may consider your pro version idea. That might make sense to me if I am just selling a few to magicians but I have sold thousands to lay people who also enjoy performing it. I don't see it the same as invisible deck because it is after all an iPhone App, people know it's an app, it's really cool, but it's an app. However I really will give some thought to a Pro version, good idea.
Thanks, Carl |

Keep in mind that the Invisible Deck could be "Just a Trick Deck" but it is so much more. Yes it is readily available in magic kiosks in tourist areas but the fact that many are sold to hobbiests doesn't mean it isn't a powerful tool for Pros and Serious Amateurs.
Thank you for considering the Pro Option. I am going to PM you with a few admittedly rough ideas for more Pro features. Thanks |
